🏳️🌈 In today's diverse and inclusive world, the search for LGBTQ role models is more important than ever. At YPO we're proud to foster peer networks that inspire #businsess leaders to live and lead authentically. YPO member and Co-President at Grand Pacific Resorts David Brown shares: "Growing up and early in my career I had no gay role models...high-quality people who were successful and honorable, wonderful people. I just didn't have examples. I'm sure there were gay people in my life, but I didn't know any. So when I walked into my first LGBTQ network dinner at YPO, it was electric to see a gathering of gay business leaders. It was extraordinary for me." Leaders can celebrate #Pride year-round to promote inclusive cultures that are proven to enhance long-term success. ✨So don't wait until next June to communicate the power of belonging! #inspiration #communication #change #empathy YPO Pacific U.S. #YPORanchoSantaFe

ARTICLE WORTH READING! “Your Queer Career®: Work Advice from ‘The Gay Leadership Dude’” on Watermark. “Hello ‘Gay Leadership Dude®’ I’m hoping you can help me. I work for a smaller organization that doesn’t have any real diversity, equity and inclusion efforts (there’s a few things here and there). Some of us want to get resources to bring more formalized DE&I programming to our workplace, specifically get funding for an LGBTQ( ) employee resource group, but need to sell it to our senior leaders. They know this should be a strategic focus, but we need to share the big ‘why’ to them. Any thoughts?” ~ ERG Adam & Steve Read the article to see what advice I suggested. https://lnkd.in/ebHrCn6D #lgbtqa #diversity #inclusion #thegayleadershipdude #leadership

ARTICLE WORTH READING! On Forbes, “What’s The Purpose?” This Forbes article delves into the significance of defining purpose in leadership and its impact on driving success in organizations. It explores how aligning personal and organizational purpose can lead to increased motivation, engagement, and overall performance. We talk A LOT about this in our online LGBTQ & Ally program “The L.I.O.N.S. Program” … especially on our module on “Authenticity” and how effective leaders work within organizations that align with their own personal values. It’s hard to do your best when you’re at internal conflict with the values of where you work. https://lnkd.in/eqWQJujM #lgbtqa #diversity #inclusion #thegayleadershipdude #leadership

ARTICLE WORTH READING! On Harvard University Department of Continuing Education, “LGBTQ Leadership: How to Honor Your Identity in the Workplace” This article sheds light on a 2021 McKinsey study that shows LGBTQ employees often lack role models who share their identity. It provides valuable insights into why LGBTQ Leadership Matters and how LGBTQ Leadership Benefits Everyone. It highlights the importance of taking the initiative as a leader to foster a more welcoming space for both yourself and your colleagues that can ultimately lead to positive results. It’s part of a lot of great (but sometimes disappointing) research on LGBTQ experiences in the workplace that I’m happy to share. https://lnkd.in/gHtkYMmN #lgbtqa #diversity #inclusion #thegayleadershipdude #leadership

Happy Pride Month I am grateful to have worked for organizations, companies, and leaders that have always made me feel welcome. Feeling like I belong is so important to my success and my sense of meaning, and it’s powerful to see how foundational it is everywhere. Since I started working - my first real comms job was 28 years ago - we have made some major strides in the areas of culture. We used to not talk about it. But now many more places focus consciously on cultivating cultures that value diversity and a sense of inclusion for everyone. And it’s important to realize how much more we have to do. Visibility and representation are powerful, crucial ways, we can help making progress toward a world where everyone belongs. I’m a business leader, an LGBTQ community member, a manager, a partner, a coach, a friend… and I know representation matters. With that comes a responsibly to create environments that are inclusive and to mentor all those who will come after us. During Pride we celebrate our successes and recommit to pushing for change so everyone feels included no matter who they are, how they are, and who they love. #pride #pride2024 #lgbtq #dei #diversity #leadership
