In my interview with Jurgen Baumhoff from Metapoint Advisory Services, he shared how his passion for the hotel industry was sparked by reading Arthur Hailey's novel Hotel, which revolves around the life of a GM at the famous Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco. The book's portrayal of the GM's interactions with high-profile guests and the dynamic atmosphere of hotel life resonated with him, leading him to pursue a career in hospitality. Despite having no family background in the industry, Jürgen felt a strong connection to the idea of working with people and has never regretted his decision to enter the hotel business.
