I learned today that José Neves is stepping down as CEO of FARFETCH, 16 years after he founded the company. Our turbulent and hyperactive times seldom afford us the opportunity for deep appreciation. As this chapter closes for José, I feel compelled to express that he is my professional hero.
It is natural that when a chapter concludes—especially under less than ideal circumstances—people may rush to pass negative judgments. I certainly don't expect the thousands who have enjoyed exceptional jobs, experienced great professional challenges, and gained rapid and valuable knowledge to always express gratitude. And yes, I do expect those who have lost jobs, missed opportunities, or seen their professional dreams postponed to voice their complaints.
José's story and Farfetch's journey are more than just narratives of financial success; they are testaments to perseverance, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of a vision. Under his leadership, Farfetch transformed from an idea into a global powerhouse in the luxury fashion industry.
