In a startup, 90% of the time, we obsess about the wrong problems. - What colour or font should my website be? - Which accounting software best fits my use case? Startup work ain't about pretty websites or the perfect business strategy. We obsess over things like - Logo A vs Logo B? Nobody cares. - Instagram follower count? Vanity metric. Uber didn't win because of their invoicing system. Netflix killed Blockbuster because their product was BETTER. What to obsess over? - Customer pain points We must serve the customers and provide delight. Everything else is just noise.

Who's in charge of monetization in a PLG company? Looks like we're all kinda scratching our heads on that one. 😅 Kyle Poyar did some digging and found that when it comes to converting free users to paid and pulling in self-serve revenue, there's no one-size-fits-all answer on which team owns it. Monetization is relatively new in most organizations, with a lot of maturing to do, but it's too important to leave ownership of it scattered across different teams doing their own thing. So, fast-forward 10 years—will every company have a dedicated monetization squad, just like how "growth" went from buzzword to business essential since the early 2010s?

There are plenty of ways to handle your dev product strategy. There are no blueprints to get there though. Not for the optimal results anyway.
