You make a difference…👍❤️ We believe that every act of kindness has a ripple effect, and you can make a difference by donating your old and unwanted furniture and white goods. Your generosity can transform lives within our community by providing comfort and dignity to those who need it most. Imagine a family in crisis moving into a house with nothing but bare walls. Your donated sofa could become their cosy spot for family cuddles. That donated dining table means that they don’t need to eat on the floor. They can share meals and create memories. 💕 By giving, we can create a safety net that catches those who are falling and lift them up. Donating isn't just about things; it's about people. Your act of kindness not only helps others but also connects you to fellow community members. Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate community. If you have items to donate, consider KFR. We collect furniture and white goods free of charge from households across Wiltshire and Swindon, and your contribution matters. Please share our mission with friends, family, and neighbours. The Empty Bowls project is a grassroots movement that originated in the early 1990s as a way to raise awareness and funds for hunger relief efforts. The concept is simple yet powerful: artists, craftspeople, and community members create and donate handmade bowls, and guests are invited to attend a simple meal where they select a handcrafted or painted bowl to use and keep as a symbolic representation of the struggle against hunger. The Empty Bowls movement has become an international phenomenon, involving artists, potters, students, and volunteers in countless locations. Corona-Norco Settlement House uses Empty Bowls as its largest fundraiser for the year. Every event has the common goal of raising funds to support food banks, soup kitchens, and other hunger-related organizations. Empty Bowls events often combine art, food, and community engagement to raise awareness about the global hunger issue and encourage people to take action. Participants contribute financially and leave with a tangible reminder of the event's mission, as well as a sense of unity and solidarity with those less fortunate. Overall, the history of Empty Bowls showcases how a simple idea can evolve into a powerful movement that brings people together to make a positive impact on a pressing social issue. "Join our Empty Bowls Fundraiser Dinner. Share a meal, and support those in need. Make a difference with every bowl. #FightHunger" #EmptyBowls #FightHunger #CoronaCA #NorcoCA #JurupaValleyCA #EastvaleCA #SettlementHouse

Does giving really make you happy? A series of studies found that neurons in the portion of the brain associated with a sense of satisfaction start firing when a person chooses to donate their money or time. Volunteering is a great way to give and is truly appreciated by the recipient. These are a few ways to help out: 🐶 Walk dogs at a local animal shelter. 📚 Help kids with their homework. 🎶 Offer free lessons in something you’re good at. 🧵 Offer to sew up old clothes and stuffed toys. 💻 Provide IT help to local adults. 📖 Read to kids in local hospitals. 👵 Spend time with senior citizens in local senior centres. 🎉 Find a local fundraiser and offer to help. 🤝 Offer your skills to a non-profit organization. Or, become a member at the Rotary Club of Barrie. There are always new and exciting events we host and we would love to have volunteers like you! #RotaryClubBarrie #Volunteer

This week is #RoadSafetyWeek, an important road safety campaign which serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility we share in fostering safer road environments. Five people sadly lose their lives on UK roads every day, so raising awareness of the dangers of excess or inappropriate speed is so important. We share Brake, the road safety charity infographics below to highlight why speed matters, and other important facts to open up conversations about road safety. More resources and information can be found on their website: https://lnkd.in/gEyXPjp #RoadSafetyWeek #PersonalInjury #DLGLegalServices #LegalServices #makinglawaccessible

👷♂️👷♀️ Always having a brother or sister’s back and knowing they have yours is part of what it means to be member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC). Looking out for your fellow elevator mechanics and apprentices is about more than just camaraderie; in a trade where a typical day includes facing serious hazards on the job, that support is an essential part of working safe. 🛠️ It’s also something that extends beyond the jobsite. Across the United States and Canada, IUEC Locals and members give generously of their time and resources to support nonprofit organizations that help people in need – such as the Diabetes Research Institute and Lift for a Vet. This holiday season, we want to highlight the Toy Box Connection - another example of a charity the IUEC has been involved with for years. 🧸❄️ “It’s our job to bring joy to those who need it most, especially during the holidays. When we deliver items – toys, gift cards, linens – to folks having a tough time, our goal is to provide some distraction,” said TBC Founder Michelle Maxia. “The IUEC has been such a vital partner to us – their members help us go into communities across the country and make a real difference. It’s a beautiful thing.” 🤝 IUEC National Organizer Bobby Capuani, who’s worked closely with Maxia and the TBC, emphasized how important this support is. “When tragedy strikes – whether that be a house fire, the loss of a parent, or flooding – the key to moving forward is togetherness,” he said. “That’s what our union’s relationship with TBC is all about – building a greater sense of community. It’s about showing up for others when they need us most. We can’t solve all the world’s problems at once, but if we each play our part, there’s a lot of good we can do.” Read the full story in our blog post ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ejXgW9m5 #IUEC #ElevatorInfo #ToyBoxConnection #Community #Charity #Giving #HomeSafeForTheHolidays #ElevatorTech #ElevatorTechnician #Volunteer #CommunityGiving

🌟The act of giving, no matter how big or small, has the power to create positive change. While it’s important that we spend our holiday season feeling grateful for all we have, it’s equally as important to remember that we live in a world where many people aren’t as fortunate. 💖 Here are just a few ways you can give back this holiday season: ➊ Donate items to your local shelter. Donate clothes, shoes, toys, furniture, books, and essential items like shampoo and toothpaste. Take an hour to two to go through your closets and get rid of anything you haven't worn in a few years or no longer need. If it doesn't spark your joy any longer, donate it. ➋ Donate unopened and unused toys to a local toy drive. ➌ Create a giving tree. 🎄✨ Giving trees not only support kids and families, they can also bring your community together. Call a local shelter and ask if there are any families in need. Write what the family needs on cards and hang the cards on a Christmas tree at your office, the local gym or library, or partner with a local business. Here's an idea: ask your local coffee shop if you can partner with them and get the community involved. Happy Giving Tuesday, everyone! ❤️ . . . #spreadjoy #giveback #seasonofgiving #givingtuesday #sharelove #communityunity #gratitude #holiday #festive #thankyou #realestateagent #homebuying #opencommunication #expertadvice #yourhomebuyingjourney #apexgroup #exprealty #realestate #homes #realtor #beaverton #portland #hillsboro #tigard #pnw #realestateagents #interestrates #seller #buyer #topagent #firsttimehomebuyer

#GIVINGTUESDAY Ensure the safety of residents residing in our Community Homes! Did you know, it only takes two-and-a-half minutes for smoldering smoke to advance into a blazing fire that can consume an entire room? Two-and-a-half minutes is all the time that we have to safely evacuate individuals residing in our Community Homes. To address this safety concern, Prospectus Berco wants to install double doors in the bedrooms where participants who are non-mobile sleep. This will enable caregivers to safely evacuate individuals while still in beds through the double doors and safety. Learn more about this urgent need by watching this video in the link support this initiative by donating today! #GivingTuesday #inclusionandopportunities #safety #philanthropy #instagivingtuesday #instatoday #instasupport #instadonation #instagift

All of us have a 50:50 chance of providing unpaid care by the time we are 50 years old, and a 2 in 3 chance of providing care in our lifetime. The huge individual and collective contribution made by unpaid carers should be properly recognised and supported by future governments as well as by local services and by employers to ensure unpaid carers can hope to have similar outcomes to non-carers. In 2024, Carers Week is made possible through Carers UK working together with seven other major charities: Age UK, Carers Trust, The Lewy Body Society, ME Association, Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association , Oxfam and Rethink Mental Illness. Latest research carried out by YouGov for #Carersweek https://lnkd.in/e9PuARsF #carers #TEC Access Technology Enabled Care #generalelection

Did you know that 200,000 people are living with sight loss in London and just under 700,000 (1 in every 12 adults) are living with a sight threatening condition? That’s why we are working with Fight for Sight / Vision Foundation, to help them support their vision of a future where people living with sight loss are equal citizens and preventable blindness is a thing of the past. We awarded a grant to the organisation to deliver an online event for blind and partially sighted people between 16 and 25, highlighting the importance of maintaining mental fitness. The event served as a prequel to a set of four in-person activity days organised in partnership with Jamie’s Farm. Each activity day offered 10 young people the chance to spend a day outdoors in nature, working with animals and participating in challenges and activities that allowed them to explore themselves and their well-being journeys. “It was great to be given tasks that you don’t normally do and be given the opportunity to complete them independently. I particularly enjoyed interacting with the animals and chopping firewood.” – Sam, Event Participant IICF recognises that the UK has one of the poorest rates of social mobility in the developed world. We’re working to change this by uniting the industry in volunteering, leadership and grants to social mobility charities. In the UK we’ve raised nearly £2M to change the lives of more than 7,500 people in the communities in which we live and work. Each time you donate to IICF – directly, or as sponsor or participant at one of our events - you're helping to change lives and we thank you for your support! Embrace the spirit of giving this holiday season with thoughtful gestures that foster a sense of community among your tenants: 1. Set Up a Delivery Driver Thank You Station: 🚚 Create a dedicated thank-you station in the lobby of your building for delivery drivers. Provide snacks and drinks to express gratitude for their hard work during the busy holiday season. 2. Donate Warm Clothing: 🧣 Place a donation bin in the lobby to collect warm clothing for those in need. Numerous local organizations are in desperate need of winter wear, offering various options for tenants to contribute. 3. Spread Cheer with a Card: 💌 Encourage tenants to write holiday cards and share them with residents in nearby nursing homes or community centers. Organize a delivery to make the impact even more personal and heartwarming. 4. Collect Food Bank Donations: 🥫 Support your local food bank by organizing a collection of non-perishable items right in your building's lobby. Every contribution helps create a season of abundance and joy for those facing food insecurity. 5. Volunteer Your Time: Offer your time at local shelters, food banks, or community events, and encourage your tenants to join in. Consider rallying your community for a dedicated volunteer day, fostering a collective effort to make a positive impact in the broader community. Let us know if you try any of these tips out! #CommunityGiving #HolidayKindness #SeasonOfGiving
