An important report on where we are, where we need to get and how we are going to get there with building decarbonization. We CAN reach our decarbonization goals for buildings in Canada, but it needs to start now and we need to act with conviction.
Significant new report out of the hard-working Canadian Climate Institute / Institut climatique du Canada (CCI) team today focused on building decarbonization. The analysis is unusual (and powerful) because it focuses on how best to achieve the #NetZero transition from a consumer protection point of view. An important contribution!

Since 2015, SSG has used CityInSight–a model specialized in energy and emissions–to help over a hundred municipalities across Canada, the United States, and Latin America, take a systemic and holistic approach to climate planning. 🗣 On Wednesday November 22, Erik Frenette will be discussing the key principles and mechanics of the CityInSight model at the annual Québec Mines Énergie conference. Great to see World Economic Forum recognising the need for meaningful policy action to address the climate crisis - as No. 1 of their 'Top 10 Actions' needed. Not so great to see the key action, #emissionpricing, lost in the midst of many others. Not all policies are created equal > #focus #climate #policy #action. https://lnkd.in/dqVyjnWh

"The report concludes that while energy facilities are designed to maintain their integrity during their useful lifetime and operate efficiently according to the climatic conditions of their location, climate change can drastically alter these conditions and impact both their physical integrity and productivity." #LATAM #climate_change #energy_infrastructure

“Indigenous peoples are connected to their lands and territories through story, language and family relationships. Impacts on the land are considered across multiple generations. Responding to climate change is yet another intergenerational responsibility for families like the Sayers’. The challenges and opportunities facing Indigenous peoples in British Columbia are as immense as the landscape itself. BC is larger than France and Germany combined, and mountainous terrain covers three-quarters of the land base–glacier-fed rivers are commonplace. These rivers provide ample opportunity for clean energy projects that reduce the impact of large-scale industrial hydro projects. With such abundant rivers, there’s enough clean energy to power many nations.” https://lnkd.in/guKBYUE8
