Thank you to all the #sustainability, #circulareconomy, #regenerative, #wellbeing, #waste and #climate practitioners who attended our Radical Collaboration event yesterday! Our event was kindly hosted at Beca and supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New Zealand. Why 'radical' collaboration? In order to tackle our incredibly challenging systemic problems and 'move fast, together', we need to collaborate much more effectively, and in a high-trust environment. What we learned: We heard from Juhi Shareef, CoFounder of Project:Moonshot on the context that the indigenous Māori doughnut can provide for the circular economy, and Maartje ten Brummelaar and Nicole T Garofano, PhD, AAIP from Planet Ark Environmental Foundation shared practical examples of the opportunities that collaborating on a circular economy can bring. We then heard from Debbie O'Byrne, MBA of Planet Price on how the Living Labs methodology can help tackle some of NZ's 'wicked’ systemic problems such as: * scaling regenerative agriculture * identifying new ways of creating value for farmers * reducing construction waste * transition plans for removing gas infrastructure from our cities * the data challenge * Auckland's traffic (!) Get involved: We will be sharing videos and insights from the event in the new year. In the meantime, we need to know who's working on what! We've started to map change-makers across Aotearoa and what they're working on, so we can start joining the dots. If you'd like to share your projects, let us know here: https://lnkd.in/gfxbVvwj) and we'll share this map of incredibly committed change-makers with you. 🌿 Thriving Through Collaboration: Reflections from the PLUS Change Project's General Assembly 🌍 At the end of May, the Baltic Studies Centre had the privilege of participating in the first General Assembly of the PLUS Change Project in Brussels, hosted by the Vlaamse Landmaatschappij. This milestone event was a vibrant gathering of minds, bringing together 23 partner organizations dedicated to transforming sustainable land use. Our discussions over the three days have reinforced the value of collaborative research. It's clear that our collective efforts are not just about meeting project milestones, but about fostering a community that is empowered to drive real change. A particular highlight for the Baltic Studies Centre was the co-creative session led by Elina Dace where PLUS Changers explored the nuances of sustainable land use. It was noticeable how aspects of ethics, equity, justice and inclusivity are redefining our approach to engaging with diverse perspectives of land users, managers and researchers. Looking forward, we are excited about the impact our joint efforts will have over the next three years, not just in our fields but in driving societal change toward sustainability. The foundations we’ve built in Brussels promise a future rich in innovation and collaborative success. #SustainableFuture #Collaboration #Innovation #Transformations #SocietalChange

We are inspired by those transforming whole industries to be more sustainable. Great example: BIOHM who is making building materials out of mushrooms and food waste - agricultural waste that would have been bound for landfill. Check out this video describing how they leverage "nature's internet". Cheers to you, and to all who are working to create sustainable building, and destigmatizing the use of words like nature in building. 💚♻️ UpLink - World Economic Forum #sustainablebuilding #wastetransformation #zerowaste #sustainableinnovation #reducereuserecycle

We hosted the Project:Moonshot event - 'Radical Collaboration for the Circular Economy' at our Auckland Beca office yesterday. People from all over Aotearoa came together to start the journey of fostering a new level of trust, openness, and mutual support. We recognise that everyone has something valuable to contribute and that diversity of perspectives and experiences can lead to better outcomes. We need radical collaboration to accelerate change for our economy and is not just about being nice or polite, but about being honest, respectful, and curious about what others are doing. Our afternoon session was opened by Juhi Shareef from Project:Moonshot, Maartje ten Brummelaar from Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in New Zealand and Nicole T Garofano, PhD, AAIP from Planet Ark Environmental Foundation sharing their insights from years of experience. We then broke into a brainstorming session on Living Labs delivered by Debbie O'Byrne, MBA from Planet Price to discussed what are some of the 'Wicked’ problems we need help with. Here are just a few 'Wicked' problems: * zero waste Pacific * scaling regenerative agriculture * reducing construction waste * transition plans for removing gas infrastructure from our cities This is the fist step of many to come. Thank you all for participation and bringing fantastic industry insight for our next steps of radical collaboration! #circulareconomy #radicalcollaboration #industry #trade #sdgs #parisagreement #livinglabs #learning #sharingknowledge

🎒 Two years of exploring ecovillages paving the way for research in organizational behavior 🌳 "Ecovillages inspire us to redraw the possibilities of humanity's future. They are also incubators for research into collaborative and self-management modes of governance, which are gaining ground in businesses and organizations in the broadest sense. The exploratory takeaway from this journey with ecovillages leads to consider that an organization embracing collective organizing should consider clear governance and regulations as a grounding principle."
