Walgreens lays off 646 workers Walgreens is reducing its workforce in Florida and Connecticut by nearly 650 workers combined. Walgreens is closing its distribution centers in Orlando, Fla., and Dayville, Conn. The Florida closure will result in layoffs of 324 workers, while the Connecticut closure will affect 322 employees. Layoffs are expected to occur on or by May 17. "We expect these reductions in force to be permanent, and we will provide all affected employees with the opportunity to participate in on-site career fairs and/or outplacement services to assist with their transition to other employment," Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens noted in regulatory filings with state labor departments. Walgreens announced plans to cut at least $1 billion in costs last fall, with a sizable portion of the reductions tied to Walgreens' VillageMD. The primary care subsidiary is exiting the Illinois and Florida markets, resulting in the closure of nearly 50 clinics. https://buff.ly/3PqQsxM

"With a small business, every day it's something different; there's always something changing and we can't predict it. With Veryable, we can be flexible." -Anh Trousdale (Co-Founder) When PhoLicious, a manufacturer and distributor of authentic Pho secured launches with Walmart and Sam's Club, the opportunity was clear but the path to delivering was not... Sick of the inefficiencies and restrictive nature of working with staffing agencies and unwilling to hire for a potential one-time order, PhoLicious began leveraging Veryable to build a flexible extension of their full-time workforce. By doing so, they removed labor as a constraint and gained the ability to take on any order - regardless of size or timeline while maintaining an optimal cost structure.
