🎉 Great talks & creative hands-on workshops: That was the Startup Port Community Day 2024 Our Project Lead Arthur Erdmann and our Program Manager Marc Henes had a great time at the Community Day 2024 powered by Startup Port! 🙌 Of course we from AI.STARTUP.HUB Hamburg are there: once a year, the startup community of the Hamburg metropolitan region comes together to expand and strengthen the network. This time at Leuphana University of Lüneburg. Students interested in founding a company, young and experienced founders, entrepreneurship professors and supporters have the opportunity to get to know the players, connect and get new projects off the ground. 💡💪 The focus was entirely on interaction: as part of an ideation challenge, teams were thrown together to come up with great new startup ideas! The participants used the creative stands at the “Marketplace of Inspiration” for this purpose. What a great idea! We are very impressed. 😍 After the successful workshop, there was plenty of networking over drinks and snacks. The atmosphere was fantastic, with lively discussions and a good mood everywhere. You could really feel the motivation. Everything was accompanied by music, wonderful! 🫶 We are already looking forward to being there again next time! We've seen A LOT of AR/VR dealflow, since we invested the first cheque in Oculus VR back in 2012. The technology Lark Optics is developing could be the key to unlocking commercial scale for spatial computing. Augmented reality - the natural successor of the VR-units of Meta/Oculus - has been slower than expected, largely due to the nausea many users associate with today’s holographic lenses. It's called Vergence-accommodation conflict (VAC) - where the brain receives mismatching cues between objects of fixed virtual depth and true physical depth. Lark Optics is solving this problem, with a technology that projects the AR image directly onto your retina, meaning that the content is always in focus no matter what your eyes might do to adjust to the real world around you. We're proud to have backed Pawan and the team with their first institutional check, and can't wait for what 2024 has in store for commercial spatial computing.

🎉 Yesterday was the day: at the Business Innovation Center Kaiserslautern GmbH (BIC), a reputable German #AI and Tech think tank in close proximity to Fraunhofer IESE and Fraunhofer ITWM, we had the opportunity to present our startup in front of investors and entrepreneurs from the region, as well as the supporters and organizers of the BIC. The BIC with its Startup Support Camp has been supporting yasAI for the past year not only by providing us with an office space. When you're in the startup game, feedback is crucial. It's what keeps us from getting lost in the hustle and bustle of the business world. Startups are like a rollercoaster ride, juggling all kinds of tasks – from day-to-day stuff to big-picture strategy and product shenanigans. And if you're in the early stages, keeping your eye on the prize can be a real challenge, thanks to those lean operations. That's why the BIC plays a vital role in ensuring that startups can participate in brief pitch sessions every six weeks, providing a platform for experts and investors to offer valuable feedback. Plus, just hanging out with other startups is like a shot of motivation. 🫶 Thanks again to Business Innovation Center Kaiserslautern GmbH for their great support throughout the past year and for having faith in our venture! The latest Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA) e.V. study, “Innovation through Cooperation,” reveals the significant potential of collaborations between companies and startups in the automotive sector. 🚀 Here are our key takeaways: Ever since the automotive industry is navigating significant hurdles, including the shift to electric drives and intensified global competition, there is a need for change. ▶ Collaboration is Key : Teaming up with innovative startups is essential for overcoming challenges and boosting Research & Development ▶ Boosting Innovation: Over half of companies (51%) have kickstarted product and process innovations through these partnerships, but there’s still room to grow ▶ Resource Struggles: Many companies (74%) struggle with a lack of resources and suitable partners, particularly insufficient personnel ▶ Partnership Challenges: Companies often face hurdles like doubts about startup maturity (67%) and limited financial resources (55%) ▶ Recommendations: The study suggests investing more in partnerships and showcasing successful examples to underline the benefits of working with startups That’s where prototype.club joins the game.
