Shippers should not have been "at a loss" or "surprised" about the ripple effects of the Red Sea crisis... Longer transit times, congestion at transhipment ports, lack of equipment, moving vessels from less important routes to more important ones should all have been considerered by shippers... In my opinion, the current spike in prices and delays was created by higher than expected demand in Europe, North America and Latin America.
