Aboard their rowing boat the team had millions of calories worth of specially formulated dehydrated meals that would give them maximum calories. But for Rod, it was a simple pack of Tesco noodles that did it for him. 🍜 • A meal he referred to as 'pure heaven'. 😇 • And whilst we now need to go and recalibrate what heaven looks like - it does highlight an important point; food aboard the boat is really important from an energy perspective - but it's also really important from a psychological perspective. 🧠 • Sure, Tesco noodles are not as calorie dense as the other meals aboard - but it was a little bowl of happiness for Rod, and as he sat there, with his heavenly meal, watching the sun go down, with this three friends...that boat was a very happy place to be in deed. ☺️ • One of the reasons for sharing some of these insights is to remind everyone that the team are still raising money for Get A-Head Charitable Trust and Meningitis Now - if you enjoyed following the team and didn't have a chance to donate - now is the time! The Brightsides present...the ocean going version of the Teletubbies? 🤔 • These fetching outfits are the team's survival suits...and ideally, they never want to wear them again! 😬 • These suits are designed to protect the wearer if they find themselves in the water for some reason. They can be put on completely within 2 minutes, and help to ensure the wearers body temperature doesn't fall more than 2 degrees within 6 hours of floating in the water. 😯 • It's worth mentioning that the guys do have a life raft, and even if the rowing boat got a large hole in it, it would just flood one section and the boat will still float. So just floating in the water in this suit is unlikely to ever happen. Clearly, nobody ever wants to wear this suit, but the team have to be prepared for anything out here, and practising donning it within the required 2 minutes was part of the drills before they pushed off from land. • The mood is good on board - and with less then 500 miles to go it should be!! Wow!!! 🤯 • Footage from the stormy weather earlier in the row gives us an idea of how strong the conditions were, and why the team were sometimes unable to row into those conditions. 😯 • Other than waves kicking the boat around, we can see by the two lines running away from the boat in this video, that they're on para-anchor in this clip. 🪂⚓ • The left hand line is the main para-anchor line, a HUGE 70 metres of line leading to the canopy that is holding them fast in the water. The right hand line is an even longer 95 metres of line; this is the retrieval line and is made out of material that floats (to help keep it separate from the main line). This line goes all the way out and is connected to the crown of the canopy, so that when it is pulled, it easily collapses the parachute and the whole system can be hauled back to the boat. 👌 • Mostly though, it was just WILD out there!! Every month, we donate 1% of our net profits to an organization or person bettering our world. This month's donation was a recent decision made after of the wildfires in Hawaii. I could talk about the reasons why and how I'm connected to Hawaii but this definitely isn't about me. ⬇️ This is about the people who lost their loved ones, homes, belongings, friends, pets, neighborhoods, jobs and even hometowns. What I do know is that we're stronger together. And one way I know how to help is by donating to the people who are fighting to help those who lost so much; who might not even realize they are bettering the world with every action they take. In light of this, Brave Moon Podcasts will be donating to the Maui Strong Fund, run by the Hawaii Community Foundation. You can donate alongside us, or there are also a few more choices to consider. 1. The American Red Cross of Hawaii has 220 trained responders on the ground in Maui helping with search and rescue operations. Donations to the Red Cross are also providing shelter, food and emotional support. You can also donate to the Red Cross by calling 1-800-HELP NOW (1-800-435-7669). 2. Aloha United Way non-profit organization based in Honolulu, has set up a dedicated fund for victims of the Maui wildfire. 3. The Maui Food Bank is accepting donations that will pay for meals provided to displaced residents in Maui. 4. The Maui Humane Society is seeking contributions to fund care for pets displaced by the wildfire. Thanks to NBC 7 San Diego for this helpful donation information.

It is a critical time to address the impact of high heat on individuals, families and communities across the state, particularly for those struggling financially to address and adapt to the record-breaking temperatures. Wildfire is here to help. Governor Hobbs' order also directed state agencies to develop a comprehensive heat plan by March 2024 and advocate for more federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) funding. As a community action agency that connects low-income households with resources, Wildfire will do everything we can to support Governor Hobbs bringing more LIHEAP money into the state. "The program was initially designed to help cold-weather communities keep residents heated in the winter, but it has evolved to become an important resource for air conditioning assistance in hot summers, said Wildfire Executive Director, Kelly McGowan. Wildfire will match community donations up to $500,000 in donations to repair and replace HVAC units for qualifying low-income individuals at no cost to them -- bringing the total raise to $1,000,000. The more we are able to raise in donations, the greater the impact we can make.
