#ClimateAction of the day: Tell the EPA to improve the federal clean school bus program! With a few tweaks the federal clean school bus program can become truly transformational! Namely, the govt. must prioritize money for school districts where the kids are breathing the dirtiest air. Further, the EPA should ensure the program prioritizes electric school buses & does not continue to subsidize combustion buses. Let the EPA hear from you! https://lnkd.in/gDmat5YW #climateactionnow #electricbuses #climatejustice

Today marks a significant step forward for cleaner, healthier communities. The Biden-Harris Administration, through the EPA’s 2023 Clean School Bus Program rebate competition, is funding 45 clean school buses for five Rhode Island school districts. Announced in Jackson, Mississippi, by EPA Administrator Michael S. Regan, NAACP President Derrick Johnson, and U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson, this initiative supports the transition to zero-emission vehicles, reduces pollution, and promotes American manufacturing. This is how we invest in our children's health and our nation's future. #SustainableTransport #CleanEnergy #InvestingInAmerica https://lnkd.in/gH3Su_Mi

When it comes to school bus electrification, proponents rightly point to better air quality and improved health outcomes as the main advantages. Bring it back to basic cost savings, however, and all-electric school transportation is still a winner. 🚍 ⚡ This case study from Accelera by Cummins shows how one small school system in Colorado reduced running costs by more than $5,000 in its first year, thanks to combined savings from lower fuel and maintenance costs. #electricfleets #electricbuses
