The newly formed company that combines the WWE and UFC will start trading today under the ticker TKO. • Valued at $21 billion • Endeavor owns 51% / WWE owns 49% Vince McMahon will be executive chairman of the new company, and Dana White will be in charge of the UFC. A couple of things come to mind... 1. It's crazy how far the UFC has come over the last two decades — from John McCain calling the sport "human cockfighting" in a letter to all 50 state governors to being an integral part of a $21 billion publicly traded company. Whether you hate or love him, Dana White deserves a lot of credit for that. 2. The UFC and WWE have extremely valuable intellectual property, and combining these assets should present significant upside in media rights. The SportBusiness Global Media Report called it last year: WWE is cracking the mainstream in ways it hasn’t since the 1990s, spearheaded by the fresh ideas of chief content officer ‘Triple H’ Levesque. Levesque sees a much more global future for the company bestowed to him after the departure of founder Vince McMahon, and WWE’s latest ‘premium live event’, #Backlash, went viral for the passion and fervour of the crowd in Lyon, France. Levesque has promised that the louder the audience, the more likely the promotion is to return to that city for a top-tier event. Backlash was a key test for the WWE, which has always heavily relied on its annual #Wrestlemania show to reach casual fans and keep its status as a pop culture icon. This year, Wrestlemania’s reach went well beyond the weekend extravaganza, with WWE’s influence even extending to the Uefa Champions League, where Arsenal F.C played the theme music of WWE champion Cody Rhodes at half time. Rhodes’ theme music playing at the Emirates is indicative of the kind of mainstream reach WWE has lacked over the past decade or more. But with global media giant Endeavor at the reins and its WME-represented star Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson on the board, professional wrestling is back in the ascendancy. This energy drink costs 1,500 rupees. What makes it so expensive, and why is everyone going crazy for it? Firstly, there's the crazy marketing strategy—from going bald to working as a salesman in Walmart and entering the WWE, Logan Paul and KSI have gone to extreme lengths to promote Prime. They built massive hype before Prime by teasing a final chapter; many fans thought it would be their third boxing match. However, on the day they announced Prime. The second aspect is limiting supply. By limiting the supply of the product to create exclusivity, they aim to generate more demand. Prime has leveraged partnerships with some of the biggest sports teams, such as football clubs Barcelona, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, and the UFC, which collectively have over millions of fans. Prime's sales are set to touch over a billion dollars, which is absolutely insane for a 2-year-old brand.
