We are thrilled to invite you to an online talk with Sheila Watt-Cloutier about Inuit traditional knowledge and advocacy on climate action on May 23, organized by SeeChange in cooperation with Dahdaleh Institute for Global Health Research.
Siila Watt-Cloutier is an Inuk advocate, an Officer of the Order of Canada and Nobel Peace Prize nominee. Born in Kuujjuaq, Québec, she had a traditional Inuit upbringing until age 10, traveling only by dogteam. Siila was later sent away to school, including three years in a residential school in Churchill, Manitoba.
Her national bestseller The Right to Be Cold, One Woman's Story of Protecting Her Culture, the Arctic and the Whole Planet passionately argues that climate change is a human rights issue and one to which we all are inextricably linked. Her 2016 TEDxYYC talk was themed ‘Human Trauma and Climate Trauma As One’. Siila has been a political representative for Inuit at the regional, national, and international levels as International Chair for the Inuit Circumpolar Council (formerly the Inuit Circumpolar Conference) from 2002-2006. Siila is a treasured advocate who has received numerous national and international awards and honours for her lifelong work to protect the Inuit of the Arctic and defend environmental, cultural and human rights, acutely threatened by climate change.

Happy World Water Day! This year's theme, 'Water for peace' emphasises the importance of working together to balance the needs of people and the planet, and to ensure that no one is left behind in access to clean #water and #sanitation, so that water is a catalyst for a more peaceful future. 💧 🕊️
For women and girls, people with disabilities, and other marginalised groups, water insecurity exacerbates inequities and disproportionately impacts their health and well-being. Water conflict also increases the risk of violence.
Throughout the world, women are at the frontlines of climate change and it's impacts on water. With primary responsibility for meeting caregiving and household water needs, including for sanitation and #hygiene, women are water experts in their communities.
Women and water can lead us out of this crisis — but women cannot do it alone. As climate change impacts increase, and populations grow, we must unite to advance gender equality and accelerate progress on #SDG6 - Water and sanitation for all. Everyone has a role to play in creating a fairer and more cohesive society.
Throughout #Asia and the #Pacific, Water for Women partners are working with communities across all levels to deliver climate-resilient and inclusive water and #WASH services for all. Together, we are committed to accelerating progress for a more equitable, water secure and peaceful future.

What a completely brilliant way to celebrate IWD with Women's Environmental Leadership Australia.
Every time I leave a discussion or event with the brilliant people involved in WELA I feel lighter, more supported and part of an incredible network of change makers who are making the world a better place. It's the best feeling.
I am sure this webinar will be the same
Get. On. It!

A great way to invest in real change for IWD rather than purple cupcakes!
Women and gender-diverse people are leading much of the change we need in our world BUT did you know that...
Women-led projects are chronically underfunded with less than 0.2% of global charitable funding going to women’s environmental action. WELA is changing that. You can help!
This International Women’s Day we’re doing something a little different. We’ve gathered some of the busiest changemakers we know and we’re asking them how they lead with joy in these uncertain times. At the helm of this conversation will be the force of nature that is comedian and activist Mandy Nolan so we know it will be one to remember (and hilarious). Grab some lunch, gather your colleagues, and book the boardroom for a WELA International Women’s Day celebration!

Meet one of our amazing Climate Incubator participants: SDSN Youth Mediterranean! 🤩
✨ They are a regional team of volunteers working towards the sustainable development of the Mediterranean area 🌞
💡Their team explains: “We joined the Climate Incubator because we want to support the youth in our community in scaling up their projects even more. By engaging in advocacy activities, we aim to bring their causes to the attention of policymakers, funders, companies, and international institutions. We want to be the bridge that connects passionate individuals and organisations with the resources they need to turn their ideas into reality!”🌟⚡
🌐They aim to mobilise and empower young people to become active agents of change and achieve the #SDGs 🌱
🔊 By continuously encouraging training, networking, and partnerships all over the #Mediterranean, they promote best practices and build a community that can learn from one another 👏
“We’ve enjoyed such an exciting journey as part of The Good Lobby Climate Incubator” 🚀

🌍 Join us at JJ Conference and Travel where passion meets purpose! 🌱 We're dedicated to organizing conferences that don't just inform, but inspire action for social and environmental causes. Together, let's raise awareness, lend support, and drive change for a better world. #ConferencingWithACause#SocialChange#EnvironmentalAwareness"
🌍 Raising Awareness:
The First Step Towards Change 🌍
Today, I want to talk about the power of awareness in driving the changes we want to see in the world. Awareness isn't just about acquiring knowledge; it's about sparking action. It is the first critical step in addressing the myriad challenges we face—from climate change and environmental degradation to social inequality and beyond.
🔍 Why Focus on Awareness?
a) Informed Decisions:
Understanding the issues leads to better decision-making at both individual and collective levels.
b) Empowered Advocacy:
With knowledge comes the power to advocate for meaningful changes in policies and practices.
c) Community Engagement:
Awareness fosters a sense of community and collective responsibility, which are crucial for sustainable change.
🌱 Take Action:
i) Educate Yourself and Others:
Stay informed about the issues affecting our world. Share articles, posts, and talks.
ii) Participate in Community Efforts:
Join local or online groups focused on environmental conservation and social justice.
iii) Advocate for Change:
Use your voice and platform to push for actions that make a real difference.
Every action starts with awareness. By spreading knowledge and engaging in informed discussions, we can all contribute to a healthier, more equitable world. Let's encourage each other to learn, share, and act. What issue are you most passionate about raising awareness for? Drop a comment below or share this post to keep the conversation going!
