New monthly figures from NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration show that the USA had 15 confirmed weather/climate #disaster events so far this year, with losses exceeding $1 billion each. These events included 13 severe #storm events and 2 winter storm events. (And the worst of the #fire and #hurricane season lies ahead!). Overall, these events resulted in the deaths of 106 people. Extreme weather affects everyone, everywhere. Developed and developing countries alike. #EarlyWarningsForAll Read US #StateofClimate report for June at https://bit.ly/3RWeQZm
NOAA data is restricted to 1 billion dollar losses events only… lesser events can easily surpass these numbers cumulatively depending on the year , and deaths are typically wildly under reported because of varying rules and interpretations of cause of death by local coroners across states (excess mortality studies provide a truer read as evidenced in Hurricane Maria and Winter Storm Uri) but yes in general climate change the great amplifier of weather extremes is making things worse without a doubt here and abroad….
My hometown alone has had 4 natural federally recognized disasters. Also, I might add the oil and gas proliferation in this town of Lake Charles, LA also helped to perpetuate LNG exportation and dirty shale refining:(
The time is now for us all to do our part to mitigate climate change disasters related to CO2 emissions! Individually and collectively.

2wA picture says more than a thousand words. The effects of climate change are obvious. What is happening in the US is happening all over the world, just look at the extremely hot temperatures that recently hit India. The data is clear and shows the urgent need for massive investment in green tech to mitigate the impacts of climate change, increase the resilience of infrastructure and support disaster preparedness through technology and interventions to support the management of organizations and continuity of public services. We can't avoid persistent extreme weather events, but we can help organizations better prepare for them.
