Alternative marine fuels are attracting an increasing amount of attention for a number of reasons including tightening regulations and a large supply of cheap natural gas. There are a wide range of options available to including LNG and CNG, methanol, and bio-based fuels each with their strength and weaknesses. 📣 AIB - Association of Issuing Bodies is proud to announce the start of our new service contract for the European Commission. The project’s name, #REGADISS, is short for Reliable Gas Disclosure System. By end 2024, we will propose a #methodology to calculate #residualmixes for energy gases, traded in European gas networks.  💡 The residual mix is an essential building block in a reliable energy tracking system: it shows the aggregate composition of gases that are not backed with a Guarantee of Origin. In the long run, a full disclosure system is preferred – in which all gases are backed with a #GO, regardless of the source – but before we get there, we absolutely need a reliable residual mix.  ❗ AIB brings over 20 years of experience in reliable tracking of energy attributes to the project, as well as the knowledge and experience of our members. I'm thrilled to announce that our new peer-reviewed paper is now available online. Gas #flaring causes economic losses and energy wastage and is responsible for 1.5 % of the total industrial greenhouse gas (#ghg) emissions. However, the increasing role of low-carbon #hydrogen in the energy sector has led to innovative approaches for utilizing #flare gas (FG). -This study proposed a net-negative and self-sufficient multigeneration system for converting FG into hydrogen and deploying captured CO2 for enhanced oil recovery (#eor). -In addition, a comprehensive global comparative analysis for the three FG-to-hydrogen production scenarios was performed to address the impact of CO2 emission policies: autothermal reforming with CO2 capture (AACP), autothermal reforming with CO2 capture and EOR utilization (AACPE), and autothermal reforming. -The results showed that the AACPE scenario is a promising carbon-reduction alternative, producing 1.31 $/kg and 3.09 kgCO2/kg H2 GHG emission. The deployment of this system results in a 72 % CO2 capture rate. -Deploying AACPE in the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries-plus regions could significantly reduce carbon emissions by up to 138.72 Mton/year while generating 12.62 Mton/year of hydrogen at an average cost of 0.94 $/kg H2.
