Exciting news as Nigerian Netflix thriller "The Black Book" makes history, reaching 5.6M views in its first two days and securing the No. 3 spot on Netflix charts! Director Editi Effiong leads the charge as this film becomes a trailblazer for African cinema. While global giants like Netflix and Amazon Prime make strides in the market, Africa's true creative potential remains largely untapped. With fewer than 1,700 cinema screens across the continent, the need for political commitment and investment in infrastructure is evident. Despite challenges, Africa has always been the home of storytellers, showcased in numerous film festivals. Yet, there's a call for more funding, marketing, and distribution avenues to ensure African stories reach a global audience. 🌍🎥 Let's not underestimate Africa's impact! With 70% of sub-Saharan Africa under 30, our youth are the trendsetters of tomorrow. The international business and cinema world must recognize Africa's vast talent pool and untapped audience. 🌟👥 Africa deserves a seat at the table, and as we navigate the future, let's ensure our beautiful stories find the global stage they deserve. #AfricanCinema #TheBlackBook #CreativeRevolution #YouthEmpowerment

THIS IS A CALL FOR ACTION❗ #Nova is a 54-minute film 🎦 that presents testimonies of the Oct7 massacre. The testimonies were filmed by Hamas, ZAKA volunteers, and survivors. Our mission is to request Netflix to #future broadcast this important film on the platform and thus raise #awareness on what happened that day. What should be done? You don't need a Netflix account to offer the movie. 1. Go to the link: https://lnkd.in/dJjT6Bks 2. Ask for the documentary in English: Nova by Dan Pe'er, in each of the slots (there are a total of 3, fill them all with the same answer). 3. Share the message and instructions with friends and family! Every voice matters, together we can make it happen. https://lnkd.in/dJjT6Bks

All starts with one idea!
John Singleton wrote the movie Boyz n the Hood as a requirement for his application to film school. When he graduated in 1990 he sold the script to Columbia Pictures. He drew inspiration from his own life and from the lives of people he knew when he wrote it so he insisted he direct the project. It premiered in July 1991, hit theaters 10 days later and grossed $57.5 million dollars. John Singleton became the youngest person and the first African American to be nominated for Best Director, and the movie had a crucial impact on the acting careers of these three.

Again am reposting because I understand the importance of film promotion and marketing at national, provincial or state level as key elements of film business andI have been driving and championing this film business capacity building conversations for almost a decade now. Things don't just happen. We must be intentional and pay close attention to how our local creative economy can be deliberately stimulated to contribute it's quota to the economy especially with the current state of our local currency. In Nigeria, we have the authentic stories, we have the talents but yet the huge gaps in attracting international productions and the limitations such as lack of government incentives, no clear or known intentional plans to promote Nigerian film industry globally by those it's their responsibility, saturation of local market with so much local productions with no plans on distribution except getting to the streamers which has become as hard a camel passing through the eye of a needle. I could go on and on but with Nigerian International Film & TV Summit we remain committed to the global promotion and increasing the visibility of credible people who make things happen locally and our unheard success stories. End..
