This reflects a common sentiment among workers who feel their compensation hasn't kept up with the rising cost of living and their growing responsibilities. This trend has led many small and mid-size businesses to explore nearshore talent from regions like LATAM. They've found that they can hire highly qualified professionals who are enthusiastic about their work, often at a lower cost due to the region’s lower cost of living. #BusinessInsights #SalaryExpectations #NearshoreTalent #LATAM #CostofLiving

The Gig Economy: Shifting Paradigms in Global Mobility?! As the gig economy continues to expand, its impact on traditional employment and Global Mobility is becoming increasingly significant. The rise of short-term, flexible jobs is reshaping how we think about work, careers, and even international assignments. Traditionally, GM has focused on long-term expatriate assignments, often involving years of planning and significant investment in relocation and integration. However, with the gig economy, there's a growing trend towards shorter, project-based assignments. This shift poses both challenges and opportunities for GM professionals: Opportunities: Flexibility: Gig assignments can offer professionals and organizations more flexibility. Short-term projects can be tailored to immediate business needs without the long-term commitment of traditional expat assignments. Diversity of Experience: Gig workers often bring diverse skills and experiences, having worked on multiple different projects across various industries and cultures. Challenges: Compliance and Regulation: Managing the legal and regulatory aspects of short-term international gigs can be complex, especially concerning visas and work permits. Cultural Integration: With shorter assignments, ensuring that gig workers are effectively integrated into local cultures and teams becomes more challenging. The gig economy is not just changing where we work, but also how we work internationally. It introduces a dynamic element to GM that requires new strategies and approaches. I'm curious to hear your thoughts: How is the gig economy influencing Global Mobility in your organization? Are you seeing a shift towards more flexible, project-based assignments? #GigEconomy #MasteringGM #GM2024 #FutureOfWork -- 🌍 Interested in more insights on Global Mobility, HR, and International HRM? Short-term jobs can bring several benefits to employers. 🌟 Flexibility: Employers can quickly adapt to changing workloads and project demands by hiring short-term workers. This flexibility allows them to scale their workforce up or down as needed without the commitment of long-term contracts. Specialized Skills: Short-term employees often have niche expertise, which can be invaluable for specific projects or tasks. Employers can tap into these specialized skills to complete projects efficiently. Cost-Efficiency: Hiring short-term workers can be cost-effective as it eliminates long-term benefit and salary commitments. Employers only pay for the work performed during the duration of the project. Reduced Onboarding Time: Short-term workers are typically experienced and require minimal training, reducing the time and resources spent on onboarding. Fresh Perspectives: New faces can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the workplace. Short-term workers can offer innovative solutions to existing challenges. Employers can leverage these advantages to boost productivity, manage workloads effectively, and keep their operations agile. #ShortTermJobs #EmploymentFlexibility #SpecializedSkills #CostEffectiveHiring #InnovationInWorkplace

The Tripartite Guidelines on Flexible Work Arrangement Requests (TG-FWAR) aim to encourage workforce participation by offering flexible work arrangements. These rules streamline processes for employers and employees when considering and implementing such arrangements, fostering inclusivity and support while ensuring workplace productivity and efficiency. Mr Ang Yuit, President, ASME, said "I hope that the guidelines will expand the talent pool for roles small and medium-sized enterprises struggle to hire locally for, as well as improving manpower deployment, even as businesses offshore roles to manage costs and expand their reach."
