2024 International Women's Day campaign theme is 'Inspire Inclusion'. As menopause in the workplace training providers we strive to inspire organisations, large and small, to be inclusive of their menopausal employees and any member of their teams, regardless of age, or gender to feel supported in their working environment. Organisations need to consider: ๐ When women aren't present, we must ask: "If not, why not?" When women are discriminated against, we must call out poor practice. When the treatment of women is not equitable, we must take action. To truly include women means workplaces need to openly embrace their diversity of race, age, ability, faith, body image, and how they identify. This can be achieved by: ๐ Recruiting, retaining and developing diverse talent ๐ Building an infrastructure meeting the needs of women ๐ Helping women make informed decisions about their health ๐ Providing women with access to quality education and training ๐ Addressing further areas supporting the advancement of women World-renowned feminist, journalist and activist, Gloria Steinem, is reported to have said: "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights." Our CEO Alycia M. Huston is excited to moderate this conversation withย Farah Harris, MA, LCPC ย &ย Chelsea C. Williams In the pursuit of gender equality, the challenges faced by women in the workplace remain significant. It's 2023, and women have shattered the glass ceiling in various fields, proving their mettle time and again. However, as we delve deeper, we realize that beneath the surface lies an intricate web of biases and obstacles that women encounter on their journey to success. We look forward to shining a bright light on the unspoken trials businesswomen continue to face in the workplace regarding menstruation, menopause, and the multigenerational divide. It is both astonishing and disheartening that many workplaces still perpetuate the stigma surrounding menstruation and menopause. Inadequate support perpetuates this stigma, leading to women feeling ashamed of a completely natural process. Moreover, the onset of menopause brings its own set of difficulties, with many women facing discrimination and unfair judgments related to their age and perceived capabilities. It's time to break down these barriers and establish a more empathetic & understanding environment in the workplace. Another significant challenge that women face in the workplace is the multigenerational divide that can often lead to internal conflicts among female employees. A 2022 study found that nearly 40% of millennial women believed they had experienced workplace rivalry with older female colleagues, while around 55% of older women felt the same about their millennial counterparts. Instead of viewing one another as competitors, women from different generations can be allies, combining their diverse strengths and experiences to create a formidable force for change. Mentoring programs, networking events, and cross-generational team-building activities can help women build stronger bonds & amplify their collective voices. Join us for this transparent conversation on August 2nd at 2pm EDT, where women from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and industries will come together to celebrate achievements, learn from each other, and form an unbreakable support network. *Registration is Complimentary* Link in the comments. See you there!

As a demographic strategist, Bradley Schurman's identified a crucial gap in workplace inclusion: midlife women. Despite women constituting nearly half of the workforce, issues that impact them in midlife are often overlooked, and it is costing American businesses. Research shows menopause-related issues cost American businesses $26 billion annually. However, proactive companies implementing menopause-specific benefits see positive impacts on work performance and the bottom line. It's vital for businesses to listen, innovate in benefits, and raise awareness about menopause. This isn't just about supporting women; it's about harnessing their experience for innovation and growth. Let's foster inclusive environments for a competitive edge. Thoughts? As a demographic strategist, there's a key area of workplace inclusion often missed: the challenges faced by midlife women. Despite making up nearly half of the workforce, their unique needs, particularly around menopause, are frequently ignored, costing American businesses a staggering $26 billion annually. However, there's a silver lining. Companies that proactively implement menopause-specific benefits are witnessing improved work performance and positive financial outcomes. It's crucial for businesses to not only listen but also to innovate in offering benefits and raise menopause awareness. Embracing this approach goes beyond supporting women โ it leverages their vast experience for corporate innovation and growth. Let's champion inclusive workplaces for a stronger, more competitive future. Why limit our celebration of women to just one day a year? Last Friday I felt so pushed to post and didn't have the feeling I had anything interesting to say about it. Until I read Elin Roberts 's post. She summed up some inspiring points of action to be able to celebrate ALL women, every day and not just the "exceptional" ones, for one day a year. Let's all... Advocate for equal pay within our organisations and networks. โ Promote women into leadership roles where representation is lacking. โ Challenge the motherhood penalty by advocating for fair treatment of mothers in terms of flexibility, pay, and promotions. โ Reflect on biases we have towards each other. "It's not that women lack confidence, it's that confidence isn't rewarded in women" - Lauren Currie OBE โ Embrace failure as part of growth. We can only really succeed if we're given the room to fail. โ Buy from women-led/founded businesses. Do you know of any initiative actively promoting this in Belgium? โ Encourage open discussions about menstruation and menopause and how it's impacting our work and life. โ Implement flexible working arrangements to accommodate diverse needs. โ Ensure our support uplifts ALL women, not just those with the most privilege. Other ideas? #InternationalWomensDay #IWD
