Last Saturday, I had the privilege to attend an enlightening Women in Finance event, organized by Gal Pal Society and Scotiabank. ✨ Various speakers graciously shared their invaluable experiences as Asian women in finance. Each speaker offered unique insights, leaving me feeling inspired and motivated. Here are a few key takeaways that resonated with me: 1️⃣ Speak Out: Finding your voice and speaking up cannot be overstated. It's crucial to advocate for ourselves and others, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone's perspectives are heard and valued. 2️⃣ Your Diversity is Your Advantage: Embracing our diverse backgrounds and unique perspectives enriches the finance industry. Our differences are not obstacles but strengths that contribute to innovation and success. 3️⃣ Mentorship: Mentorship plays a pivotal role in career growth and development. I was reminded of the significance of being a mentor and seeking mentorship, fostering meaningful connections and learning opportunities. I'm incredibly grateful for the organizers, volunteers, and sponsors whose dedication made this event possible. Your support created a platform for important conversations and connections within the finance community. Moreover, the event provided an excellent platform for networking, allowing me to connect with like-minded professionals and expand my circle within the finance community. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such an impactful event! Looking forward to applying these insights to my journey in finance and continuing to advocate for diversity and inclusion in the workplace. 💼✨ #WomenInFinance #DiversityAndInclusion #Empowerment #NetworkingOpportunities #GalPalSociety

“I like to say women arrived on merit. The doors are open, but the test is, do we stay long enough at the top to create impact? Only merit and high performance can sustain us.” This sentiment rings true for Asia’s top female bankers, who are driving industry-wide progress in a field traditionally dominated by men. From digital innovations to sustainability, find out how leaders like Ye-Chin Chiou, chairperson of First Bank and First Financial Holding, Yvonne Chia, independent non-executive director and chairman of Standard Chartered Malaysia, Ana Maria Aboitiz-Delgado, executive vice president of UnionBank of the Philippines, and Vivien K., CEO and managing director of Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA) and co-founder of W3W, champion initiatives that contribute to equality, diversity and the improvement of society. #Finance #Banking #Inclusion #Diversity #Leadership #Innovation

Our mission is to improve the career progression of high-potential black, female or low-household-income professionals across their entire career lifecycle, from school leavers (Day One) to Board Level.
Please help me prove them wrong 🎉 😮 . In 2023 I spoke to 65 corporates about the power of propelling women into #leadership roles. While they all 'agreed' (talk is cheap IMO), that corporates should do more to accelerate the careers of females into senior positions (and not just entry-level roles), most of them didn't believe that we could actually FIND women who had the right level of experience to fulfill their most senior roles in the next few years. In fact, 59/65 corporates said they were parking things like this (#diversity, #inclusion in #tech etc) and dedicating spend elsewhere, which I think is tragic. But there was 1 who took the chance. Lloyds Banking Group didn't need 65-page decks or 35 meetings to put their resources behind accelerating women into their leadership roles. They heard what we were doing and agreed to back 80 of the UK's future leaders to reach the next (and often most difficult) jump in their career. With #mentoring, #sponsorship and #masterclasses, the aim of the programme is to have more female #tech talent across the UK supported into senior positions, both at Lloyds and beyond. Can you support the team at Journi to help find the 80 brilliant women? And to prove the other corporates wrong (and yes, I have a scratch-to-itch on this topic)? Women deserve to be in the C-Suite. Women deserve to be leading technology teams. Women deserve to be championed in the same way as men. Please comment, tag, and repost in case someone you know would benefit from applying. This International Women’s Month, I’ve had so many messages from women telling me about their amazing allies and the power of their advocacy. Importantly, the truly effective ones are those who see inclusion as an all-year-round consideration and not a fair-weather topic! Listen to a few of the memorable allies from the pods: Suresh Vaghjiani, CEO of CLOWD9, discussed his responsibilities in driving the company mission and inclusive culture. He puts particular emphasis on diversity of thought, ensuring you are proactive in attracting and retaining a diverse pool of talent from all backgrounds and experiences. Wasim Mushtaq, COO of Centre for Finance, Innovation and Technology (CFIT). Wassim shared his own journey into finance and how the support he received has led to him being incredibly active in supporting others Richard Davies, CEO of Allica Bank. Richard reflects on his career experiences in different organisations, underlining the importance of both top-down and bottom-up efforts in promoting inclusivity. At the core of all the messages is the notion that even small actions, when done consistently, can add up to meaningful progress - we need the big policies, the forums, the government support, and legislation and, we need everyone to take part. Inclusion includes us all. Thank you for listening to FinTech's DEI Discussions Let’s listen Let’s learn Let’s #walkthetalk! #inclusion #fintech #recruitment #investinpeople #allyship #advocacy
