𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗶 𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗨𝗡 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀... Yes... read that again. As astounding as that sounds, it is true and not an early April Fool's jest. The Easter Bunny had something sinister in mind when it dropped that Easter egg on our doorstep. Abdulasis Alwasil was appointed—despite 𝘚𝘢𝘶𝘥𝘪 𝘈𝘳𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘨𝘢𝘱 𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘹 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘬 131 (𝘰𝘧 146). As I reflect on this development, I am deeply concerned. Genuine feminism, in my perspective, is about choice—whether traditional or progressive—a choice that women in Saudi Arabia don't have. 🔍 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝: ❌ Economic participation and opportunity place them at 130 out of 146. ❌ Only 7.7% of the political empowerment gap is sealed. ❌ The Middle East and North African region, including Saudi Arabia, is estimated to achieve gender parity in 152 years. ❌ Women need authorization from a male relative to marry, initiate certain types of business, or travel. 🔍 𝐇𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫, 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟏𝟕, 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡: 💡 Women being permitted to drive a car since 2018. 💡 Women having the privilege to obtain their own passports - altough not travel on their own 💡 Since December 2019, restaurants are no longer mandated to have separate entrances for men and women. Examining the map attached, which illustrates freedom of movement for women worldwide in 2022, we can discern the vast contrast for women in the Middle East compared to other countries. I struggle to understand the rationale behind this unanimously approved decision as long as 𝐒𝐚𝐮𝐝𝐢 𝐀𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐚 for example 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐲 - 𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 - 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. With reports circulating about a state-funded image campaign, I hope that these developments will not only be part of an extensive propaganda campaign but will initiate noteworthy—albeit currently unexpected—changes in Saudi Arabia. #UNwomen #WomensRights #SaudiArabia

Happy International Women's Day ✨! Today, as we celebrate the strength and resilience of women worldwide, the significance of International Women's Day resonates with me more profoundly than ever after two weeks in Saudi Arabia. I saw women doing something as simple as being outside without a male guardian, going out for drinks with friends at night, working in different positions, breaking barriers and stereotypes just by showing up. Some of them had the freedom to choose whether to wear the hijab or not. It's these little victories that remind us progress isn't just about big changes, it's about the small steps too. And let's not forget, we still have work to do in the Western world too. Let's strive for more equal rights in areas like work, career opportunities, and salary. Let's keep pushing for these rights and freedom. For the freedom to work, the freedom to choose, and the freedom to be ourselves without apology. Here's to a world where every girl and every woman can chase her dreams without anything holding her back, and also for these cheerful girls from Saudi 💪🔥. #InternationalWomensDay #WomensRights #EqualityForAll

We support the Egyptian government for the country's development. The Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation commissioned us to evaluate the ILDEA II project, the second phase of the Programme "Local Development Initiatives in #Egypt with the participation of Egyptians living abroad", which aims at supporting the Egyptian government in consolidating efforts to involve Egyptian expatriates in the country's development. #LattanzioKIBS assesses the effectiveness and impact of the intervention in terms of #social, #cultural and #economic #integration, also considering dimensions related to respect for #humanrights, #equity and #genderequality, efficiency in the use of available resources and the #sustainability of the benefits achieved. Africa, the cradle of humanity, is a continent teeming with diversity, resilience, and untapped potential. Yet, all too often, it is reduced to stereotypes and oversimplified narratives of despair and destitution. But let me tell you, Africa is so much more than that. With a population of 1.1 billion people spread across 54 nations and speaking over 2,000 languages, Africa is a tapestry of cultures, traditions, and aspirations. And amidst the challenges, there is a thriving middle class, representing one in three Africans, whose ingenuity and determination defy the odds. Let's talk about progress. Africa boasts nine female presidents, demonstrating a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment that is unparalleled. And when it comes to economic growth, Africa is leading the charge, with four of the world's fastest-growing economies right here on our continent. But perhaps what's most striking is Africa's resilience in the face of adversity. Despite receiving only 2% of global foreign aid, African nations are forging their own path towards prosperity and self-reliance. This is not a continent reliant on handouts; this is a continent of innovators, entrepreneurs, and changemakers. So, to those who continue to perpetuate the narrative of Africa as a lost cause, I say this: educate yourselves. Africa is not a monolith; it is a mosaic of hope and opportunity. It's time to challenge outdated perceptions and recognize Africa for what it truly is—a continent on the rise. #AfricaRising #Diversity #Resilience #AfricanProgress #Empowerment #ChallengePerceptions #linkedinnewsafrica #linkedinconnections #africanunity #africanews #aljazeera
