𝗛𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆! 🌸 Today, we honor and celebrate the incredible achievements of women who have overcome obstacles and continue to push forward toward their goals. Unfortunately, recent studies have shown women currently only represent around 20% of the transport sector workforce, which includes both automotive and other related fields. This is still significantly lower than the national average of 47% female participation in the general UK workforce. There are both positive and negative indicators. The "30 by 30" commitment, endorsed by 27 major automotive companies in the UK, aims to increase female representation in their workforces to 30% by 2030. However, studies also show that only half of women in the industry feel prepared for the industry's current pace of change and challenges, impacting retention and potentially hindering progress towards the 30% target. Overall, while the UK automotive industry shows initial progress in addressing the gender gap, significant work remains to achieve a balanced workforce across all levels, especially in leadership positions. Mertrux are proud to have a significant representation across our dealerships in #Nottingham, #Mansfield, #Derby and #Leicester with roles within sales, parts, aftersales through to director level roles - we acknowledge and recognize these remarkable women who inspire us and empower us every day. International Women's Rights Day #IWD: A look at the place of women in French car dealerships! 💫 On International Women's Rights Day👩💼, it's important to celebrate the progress made by women in all fields, including the car industry, which has traditionally been dominated by men. Contrary to popular belief, the proportion of women in the management bodies of car dealerships continues to rise 👏 with an average of 33% of women sitting on boards of directors in Europe, and an average of 18.9% of women holding management positions 💪! These figures, while encouraging, show that there is still some way to go to achieve parity in the automotive sector. As automotive professionals🚗, we all have a role to play in creating a more inclusive and diverse environment. #Nextlane wants to accelerate the march towards parity in our business and we are thinking about a number of initiatives to achieve this goal as quickly as possible. Let's celebrate the women who are driving the automotive industry forward and commit to continuing to work towards greater equality of opportunity. #InternationalWomensRightsDay #WomenInTheAutomobile #Diversity #Inclusion

While women make up only 27% of the workforce in the global automotive industry, operates Mobire with equal numbers of women and men! 💪Nevertheless, just like all the other sectors, the automotive industry requires equality and diversity to function successfully. Here are 3 reasons why the automotive industry needs more women: 🤝Women bring unique perspectives and experiences to the table, which can lead to more innovative and inclusive approaches to designing, marketing, and selling cars. Having a diverse workforce ensures that different viewpoints are considered in decision-making processes, ultimately resulting in better products and services. 👀Women represent a significant portion of the consumer market for cars. Having more women involved in the industry can help companies better understand and cater to the needs and preferences of female consumers, leading to more successful marketing strategies and product designs. 🦸♀️Historically, the automotive industry has been male-dominated, perpetuating stereotypes about which roles are suitable for men and women. By encouraging more women to work in the industry, these stereotypes can be challenged and broken down, creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace culture.

March 8 was International Women’s Day, and while Yamaha Motor has to date done various initiatives to celebrate women and their contributions to the company when early March comes, the Global HR Division felt that the events may have been a bit too heavily branded as “events by women for women.” To pause and reflect on what kind of initiatives should really be done, the division planned a roundtable discussion with President Hidaka, bringing together women from all over the company to a café to ask questions directly around the general theme of what can be done to make Yamaha Motor a more inclusive place to work at. Amidst the café’s friendly atmosphere, President Hidaka sincerely addressed their questions and discussion topics ventured into new territory with no “right” answers. The six women who participated also found it to be a very meaningful meeting. International Women's Day is also a day to think about women empowerment, gender equality, and more. Italy has a decades-long tradition of men gifting yellow mimosa flowers to women on the day to show appreciation for them, and Japan has gradually been taking to this tradition as well. In the same spirit, the Global HR Division handed out handmade mimosa bouquets to employees leaving the cafeteria after lunch, asking that they gift them to women important to them, whether it’s to a wife, mother, or daughter. Many employees learned of the tradition that day, and while it was the first time for such a project at Yamaha Motor headquarters, its success has led to ideas to roll it out nationwide. #Yamaha #RevsyourHeart #InternationalWomensDay #women #empowerment #gender #equality #DEI #mimosas #global #humanresources

The Club’s purpose is to tackle one of the most important factors affecting the automotive industry in the 21st century; having the right inclusive leadership and culture to deliver high performing diverse skilled teams. This is essential for the industry to thrive in a time of huge turmoil and technological transformation. To achieve this, the voluntary Club members are each targeting a better gender balance within the automotive industry, with the aim of appointing at least 30 per cent of key leadership positions in the member organisations with women by 2030. https://lnkd.in/e6FS-fW5 #qubeautomotive #kia #automotivenews #automotiveindustry #diversityandinclusion #equality

Superbike Ladies League: A Two-Wheeled Industry Following the Footsteps of Multinationals In the dynamic universe of motorcycle racing, the Superbike Ladies League emerges as an industrial powerhouse, standing shoulder to shoulder with giants like Google , Procter & Gamble, and Mondelēz International . This league isn't merely a series of sporting events; it's a potent industry that champions innovation, professionalism, and gender equality in motorsport. It’s International Women’s Day and normally I like to think about celebrating the inspiring women in my life. This year, the recent developments in the Christian Horner case have me thinking about how culture should be considered, but is often neglected as, a business imperative. Over the last few weeks I’ve been increasingly disappointed in how the world of #Formula1 has been handling the Horner case, with many in the paddock (although not all) calling the situation a mere “distraction”. What message does this send to women working in the garage, already hesitant to speak up? To male allies, worried about the ramifications of calling out bad behaviour? To the young women aspiring to race for one of the world’s top racing teams? The handling of this case perpetuates an image that women do not belong, and cannot feel not safe in Formula 1. And if women don’t feel safe… - Fewer women will want to work in F1; teams will miss out on a huge pool of untapped talent. - Female fans will leave, and take their money with them (who do you think is supporting drivers by buying feminine coded collections like Enchanté?) - Female-focused sponsors, like the recently announced Charlotte Tilbury partnership, will reconsider its participation in the sport. - Toxic cultures will continue to fester, affecting both men and women in the sport. The future of Formula 1 depends on its ability to engage women, and it's taken a huge step back. This #IWD, learn from their mistakes. Do better; be better.

Women Automotive Network asked about my advice to women in the automotive industry. Here's what I think (in a little more detail than in the pictured quote): Considering how male-dominated the sector still is, my number one advice would be not to normalize any non-inclusive structures and behaviors but to call them out actively. That can be very hard, especially for younger women, people of color, and members of other marginalized groups, so my second piece of advice would be to focus very strongly on building a strong and supportive professional network, to make sure you have allies/accomplices within and beyond your company. Automotive is already a pretty amazing industry, and I am convinced it will be a lot more attractive still once it is more representative of our societal makeup. And speaking of "strong and supportive professional network", that's of course exactly what #WomenAutomotiveNetwork is. Can't wait to meet so many #womeninautomotive in Stuttgart for the WAN Summit in September! Will you be there? Please comment so I can make sure we'll meet! #womenempoweringwomen #femaleleaders #womenintech #inclusion #inclusivelanguage
