Creating Better Versions of Us | Global Keynote Speaker | Change Advisor | #1 Bestselling Author | Do it Different Podcast Host
Crikey. Duckworth Land Rover have done it again, only this time they’ve exceeded themselves. I knew they were good (see my other video!), but I am delighted to see they’re really, really clever, too. Raising your own bar is essential, and it’s a key characteristic of truly high performing teams. It’s not just about the things you do, however, it’s how you conduct them. It requires a combination of elements that are detailed: employees with the right attitude; a supportive environment to thrive in, and attentive leadership that understands the details. Legacy, however, is what brings that extra something - the magic. That often comes from long standing organisations with a history to be proud of, or as in this case, family-owned or run businesses that treat people well (some families you want to run away from!). Yes, the staff are smiley and friendly and welcoming. Yes, the environment is immaculately clean and tidy and welcoming. But there’s a palpable culture here. And it’s an absolute joy and delight to experience. There’s service, and there’s experiential service. I don’t think I’ll ever go to any other dealership ever again. This year I’ve been working worldwide consulting with, speaking to, training and coaching organisations for 20 years on the brain science of high performing teams, culture and the behaviour changes required to achieve excellence. In all that time I’ve never experienced anything so close to perfect in terms of consistent performance of excellent customer experience. Really. Bravo, Duckworth, bravo. #customerexperience #service #leadership Jaguar Land Rover UK Patrick McGillycuddy #behaviour #experience

"The Journey to Excellence: Todd Hayes, COO of Adams Automotive" In the pursuit of excellence, there are no grand celebrations, no applause, and no accolades. The path to success is a silent one, often devoid of praise or recognition. What we envision success to be and what it truly entails are two distinct realities. It's only after accomplishing significant milestones that others may commend your achievements. However, by then, you'll understand that greatness lies not in the applause but in consistent execution. While many perceive success as extraordinary, it ultimately boils down to a simple choice: doing or not doing. Once you grasp this fundamental truth, you'll cease seeking external approval or encouragement. You'll simply focus on taking action, and that alone is sufficient to define your path to excellence. Helping organisations align employees to deliver business and operational results | Experienced P&L, Operations and People Leader | Author of the book 'Dear Boss, 5 Reasons Why I'm Not Leaving'
This is a snippet from 𝗕𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴's Turnaround programme on the French car company, 𝗣𝗦𝗔 - the company that produces automobiles under the 𝗣𝗲𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗼𝘁 and 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗲̈𝗻 brands among others. Much of the turnaround of 𝗣𝗦𝗔 has been credited to its CEO, Carlos Tavares and once again, as in my previous posts on Idris Jala, having an understanding of the business and employee alignment are crucial in a turnaround situation. From the manager to the operator at the shop floor, employees are well aware of concepts of unit cost and the need to be competitive against countries where production costs are lower or face the prospect of extinction. Should you wait for a turnaround situation to ensure that employees are aligned across the business? #dearbossbook #alignment #businessleadership

Ford just elevated two family members to executive roles, including baby-faced William Clay Ford III, son of the company's executive chair, whose age the company declined to disclose. What do these appointments mean to senior leaders who aren't named "Ford"? What do they say about the proper management and governance of family-owned enterprises? And will the moves pan out? Keith Naughton and I have the latest. #cars #ford #executives #familyrun #familyowned #governance #management #seniorleaders #familybusiness

【The misfortune of Michelin's succession】 The world's largest tire brand, with revenues of USD 28.26 billion in 2022, has had six generations of leadership since its founding in 1889 by the Michelin brthers in the southern French town Clermont-Ferrand. Andre Michelin and his younger brother Edouard Michelin returned to their mother's family business, a manufacturing plant producing rubber components. At first, they only produced some rubber ball toys for children to play with, and later rubber hoses, rubber belts and brake blocks for carriages which were exported to England. Edouard Michelin's eldest son, aged 34, was killed in a plane crash in 1932 when his plane crashed during a storm that was shrouded in thick fog. Five years later, his second son Pierre crashed his car into a Peugeot driven by the Secretary of State's private secretary, killing the entire family on the spot and seriously injuring Pierre, who died the next day after being sent to hospital. The grandson François was raised by his uncle Robert Puiseus and became the 2nd generation of Michelin leaders in 1959. The succession went smoothly to the 4th generation, Édouard Michelin Jr, until 2006 when the successor died of falling into the sea during his fishing vacation in western Franc. Given that his six young children couldn’t take over the business, Michel Rollier, a 61-year-old uncle, became the sole manager of the company and maintained the operation. In view of the absence of a successor, is there any solution ensuring a smooth succession other than to bring in a member of the family who is not directly related to the company? Source: 蔡鴻青.
