One of the most important remedies to healing traumatic experiences for me personally, and those women I have been privileged to work with over the last decade is story-telling. Sharing and reflecting releases the past narrative, then the introduction of the new narrative, and a repetition of life-giving, hope-giving words in that survivor's new space. Healing stories, narratives, rituals, and processes are all ingredients to be used for this long-lifelong healing journey.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in celebrating the survivors and the resilient women who have given strength over the years, I am giving back of my time and sharing. The topic today: Turning Obstacles to Opportunities and Pain to Purpose. I am obsessed with moving survivors of trauma from survival to thriving and believe in the power of storytelling in healing. Hope to see you there.
