Yesterday, Maria Sarrate, abogada in Zafo Law, and Lars Hovmand Mikkelsen, partner in Zafo Law, participated in a webinar, arranged by BDO Danmark, giving their inputs on the subject "Tax obligations when you hire employees in Spain".   In the webinar, we took a closer look at, among other things, the following:   What must a Scandinavian company consider if it lets its employees travel to Spain and work for a period (tax obligations including Spanish registration obligations, requirements for the employment contract and social security)?   What should a Scandinavian company consider if it wants to employ local Spanish employees to work for the company in Spain or when establishing a Spanish company (tax obligations, employer obligations and social security)?   From Zafo Law's side, we questioned the often occurring assumption that Spain is just a holiday destination, as Spain can actually offer a competitive advantage for Scandinavian companies when it comes to being able to attract qualified labor to the company under the Spanish sun.   You can download our document folder (in Danish) from the webinar here: https://lnkd.in/dbPx9K_q

We had the pleasure to host the 4th Munich International Tax Forum (MITF) on 21/22 September this year. About 100 participants from all over the world joined us in fascinating presentations and discussions around the topic Future of Work: A Tax Perspective on Talent Reimagined. Of course, we also enjoyed the very special atmosphere of Münchner Oktoberfest! This year’s conference focused on the tax implications of Future of Work, including remote working or matrix structures. Industry and Deloitte experts covered direct and indirect tax, personal taxation, and transfer pricing issues around the wider scene of #FutureofWork. While Philippe Burger, Deloitte Global Leader for Workforce Transformation, shared experiences about the general phenomenon of the current workforce revolution, we were particularly honored to welcome Martin Reinhold, Senior Tax Director at Siemens, to share insights with us about the “Siemens way” of compliant tackling global mobility being joined by my partner colleague Constantin Betz. Jim Pickett and Laura Antoci of Deloitte US gave interesting explanations on why Future of Work is a tax issue. On Friday morning, Prof. Joanna Bryson, Professor of Ethics and Technology at the Hertie School University and one of the most recognized AI researchers, provided valuable insights on how AI changes the way we work.
