✨ We design & build home video studios 🎥 Take our course, or have our team design & build it for you! 👇
Exciting news! We're launching something this Friday, to give you personalized help with your at-home video studios! 💥🥳 Many of you have been asking for feedback on your studio designs, gear questions, etc. 🌱 And since closing the cohort version of Dream Studio Course last year, we didn’t have a way to provide that to you besides our done-for-you consulting options (which I know aren’t the most accessible, since they start at $8,000). So, we decided to design a new format of the course where you’ll have access to office hours – and I’ll be personally helping each of you along your studio journey in a group setting. 🤗 There, you’ll be able to get your questions answered by me and my expert team, in a way that allows me to help more of you. 🚀 We’ll be launching this new offer on Friday, so stay tuned. 🔥 There will be limited availability so make sure you check your email Friday morning, US Central Time. It will be first come, first serve. 👉 If you’re interested, make sure you're on our email list! (Link in comments) Also drop a comment so we can be on the lookout for your name when we launch on Friday 😊 I’ll share more details over the next few days. Get excited!

To be completely candid, joining Desire Studio was a bit of a paradigm shift for me, especially considering I’m one of the older members of the team. In contrast, the age in which the two directors started Desire Studio, was the same age where I was still using my parents’ iron to straighten my hair and dialing 1800-Reverse from a payphone. Desire Studio may be young in years – just a sprightly 5 – but our office is brimming with youthful, vibrant minds. And let me tell you, it’s been an eye-opener. I came in thinking my years of experience would make me the sage of the company, but I’ve quickly realised how much there is to learn from my younger colleagues. Sometimes, my opinion is as good as a shot of grenadine in a Smirnoff black bottle - absolutely shite house.... (disclaimer: using Gen Z references will make you appear younger). But here’s the magic: collectively, we bring decades of experience to the table. While my instinct might be to rely on tried-and-true methods, this team thrives on innovation and pushing boundaries. It’s this dynamic blend that allows us to deliver unparalleled creativity and ideas to our clients. Sure, some clients may hesitate to engage with a young agency still finding its footing. But when you look beyond the numbers, age is just a label and here at Desire Studio - it’s our greatest asset. Photo: I swear these aren't my children. Lachlan Holmes & Rex Whiticker

The new helloMuller website is live! Designing Fiction & Branding Stories. Helping storytellers, startups, innovators and content creators make an impact on the cultural landscape through unifying narrative-led design and storytelling into compelling identities and brands that inspire a global audience. From the world’s biggest pop culture icons and creators to the innovators of tomorrow’s entertainment and technology. For the first time since 2011 the site now catalogues those projects—From Marvel to DC, Google to Wired, and everything in between. The new website is an attempt at something new. No deep case studies or project pages, but a stream of project cards that capture the essence of each piece of work—a fluid stream of pop culture design. How failing (again) in Miami got me closer to who I'm supposed to be. In the Spring of 2016, I left my car, my girlfriend, and all of my belongings in Kansas, hopped in a Toyota Corolla with a complete stranger - enter Tobias Harvey - and drove 1500 miles to west Miami, Florida to (hopefully) work at Studio 26 as a music producer. Lasted 6 months. Without a car, it was almost impossible to ever leave my apartment. I ended up going to the studio a grand total of 4 times. The sad thing about it is that I still got a shot. One of the last times I was there I unknowingly met J Balvin at Studio 26 while waiting for my scheduled studio session. A short man with a scruffy beard walked up to me with a huge smile. I smiled back, annoyed that this man had cut into our studio time, and walked right past him. The following year, J Balvin went on to record the remix to Despacito - which is now one of the most streamed videos on YouTube of all time. Ooofff - what a sickening feeling. It took years to stop wondering 'what if?' and to accept the fact that I got in my own way of success - due to my own ego. This was something that would become a trend in the beginning stages of my entrepreneurial career. So 6 months after moving all my shit to Florida, I find myself living back home with my dad in the basement feeling like a complete loser. And then something happened 1 month after I moved home. A DJ from Germany messaged me on Twitter and asked me about the cover art from a song I created that he found on SoundCloud. He asked me how I made it and I told him I created it myself with Photoshop. He paid me $25 bucks to make a cover for his new song. Woah - I can make money off this? That was probably the first time I had felt good or had a glimmer of hope after falling flat on my face in Florida. Tobias was already running a successful creative agency out of Topeka, KS called Create Uplift. I started asking him the ins-and-outs of the design industry and he became my mentor giving me all the tools and direction I need to grow. By 2021, I had started my own agency, Key-Sprung, and was doing white-label work for Create Uplift, doing graphics and websites. During the pandemic I had acquired 5 clients on retainer, quit my job at CH Robinson, and started working for myself full time. Although I still have dreams about Miami and meeting J Balvin, I've come to realize that I was supposed to fail. I was supposed to lose...so I could learn. And since 2016 I've failed hundreds of times, whether it's doing work without a contract, not fostering relationships that could help me grow, or focusing my time on things that are not conducive to growing a business, I have dropped the ball more than you have. I promise. But that's how I learn. I've come to accept it, to embrace it, and to anticipate failure. It's essential to the journey of becoming an entrepreneur. It's only failure if you stop. #Entreprenuership #DontStop

Hello current friends, past colleagues, and scrolling strangers: I've been quite busy lately with my promotion to dad x2. Outside of changing diapers and making silly faces I've been balancing park days, nap times, and singing "Frozen" with my eldest. Consequently, I'm a bit late in sharing the unfortunate news that I've joined the ranks of many talented tech professionals experiencing layoffs once again. As Elsa wisely sings, it's time for me to "let it go" and figure out the next step in my product design journey. I would greatly appreciate any assistance from my network here, as you wonderfully offered the last time I found myself in this position. Hopefully, my bad news can translate into good news for your product organization. I genuinely enjoy being deeply involved in designing. I'm more than willing to contribute to design management and mentorship, but I think I'm most valuable to you in an IC capacity. I'm passionate about process and organization and excel at transforming complex business problems into thoughtful designs that evolve from concept to reality. I consider myself a design generalist - my career has predominantly involved helping startups at various stages realize their product vision. This means I'm adept at wearing multiple hats. I have experience in several sectors, including proptech, data analytics, no-code spaces, healthcare, artificial intelligence, and talent/HR software. One of the greatest aspects of being a product designer is the exposure to new ideas across different industries, and I believe my experience can offer a valuable perspective to your business, regardless of the sector. So, if you've read this far: thank you! Feel free to check my bio out for further experience info. I'm incredibly fortunate to have a steady stream of freelance product work keeping me afloat at the moment. While I'm open to contract work for the right projects, I am seeking a full-time role, and I'm happy to review any leads regardless of stage. You can view a (small) sample of my work via the button on: www.billyfrench.com - new site is on the way, but hopefully the Figma / my background here on LinkedIn is enough to give you confidence in my skillset. Looking forward to what's next, Billy #productdesign #productdesigner #productdevelopment #design #designer #designerlife #layoffs #hashtags

🎙With the end of university imminent, we asked our members to share their university experiences and we will be sharing their answers here each day in the run up to summer. 🎓Today we’ve got Miles Carr, an MA Games Design student specialising in level design. ❓ What did you hope to gain at uni when you started? 💬 “I didn't really know when I started. I always knew I wanted to do something with games and applied to the BA Games Design course with hopes in finding out what I'd specialise in. It wasn't until 2nd year I was fixed on pursuing Level Design.” ❓What do feel you achieved in your time at uni? 💬 “Putting my name and work out there. I've achieved many things I didn't think was possible whilst being at university such as becoming a finalist at Search for a Star and being nominated to showcase my work to a bunch of talented artists at the University. I've been given the opportunity to work with PhD students in constructing VR experiences too. I'm grateful for all the experience I've gained partaking in these activities.” ❓Is there anything you would do differently if you could go back to your first day? 💬 “Do research into game design and what it entails. I had no idea how competitive this industry is, and I was definitely overwhelmed by the knowledge I had gained about how the industry functions. I naively thought that Games Design was an actual Job title until I was educated about the amount of roles that you can specialise in that are categorised in the Design department.” ❓What advice would you give to new students just starting their journey? 💬 “Always take every opportunity that is given to you, network constantly and create a portfolio in year 1 of your course, it will make life easier and prepare you for the journey ahead.” 📲 Find Miles’s work here: https://lnkd.in/e_gSMbX8 https://lnkd.in/ejt5Dmfj
