My role holds people accountable so I encounter this on a regular basis and make those who do quite angry so often become a target for bullying. You name it, I’ve had it thrown at me. Posts like this remind me to keep doing my job so those types can’t keep damaging others. I don’t believe all are consciously doing it but it is never acceptable, and other, healthier, professional ways can be learned.

It's often hard to prove that you are being gaslighted as it often happens in very specific circumstances e.g. in a 1x1 meeting with a superior, making it difficult to bring it to the attention of HR or management without tangible evidence. Over time this can wear down an employee's confidence and will likely lead to them resigning rather than reaching out for help internally.
