Happy Independence Day! What better way to spend the day than at a national park? Today, national parks bring us joy and reflection, helping us honor the many people who had to fight for their freedom even after independence was won. They tell diverse stories of struggle and strength, giving us breathtaking places to honor the past and look toward the future. They preserve history and bring much-needed joy into our lives. National parks are places to play, to connect, and to just breathe. Remember, when you're out there, enjoy yourself and recreate responsibly so that we can continue to enjoy these magnificent lands for generations to come. What can you do at Chiricahua National Monument? Watch the short video to find out.
April’s featured park is Chiricahua National Monument! This 12,000 square acre section of the Chiricahua Mountains in southeastern Arizona is a place of sacred and historical significance to the Chiricahua Apache (Nde). Holding rich cultural, historical, and natural importance, the monument is memorable for its many tall rock spires (called “hoodoos”) and balancing rocks. A geological wonder, Chiricahua is also a destination for hikers, campers, birdwatchers, and wildlife enthusiasts. 📍: Chiricahua National Monument 📷: R.
