As a part of Broadbase's evolving sustainability policies, we have been increasing our investment in high-quality second-hand furniture. Being part of an industry with a high consumption rate of "new", we feel it's important to offer alternatives - not only to lower costs to clients but also to lower the environmental impacts of manufacturing and transportation. This year, we have seen a rise in projects requiring sustainable solutions to align with companies' ESG goals and for various building accreditations (BREEAM, SKA, WELL). While ensuring all of the manufacturers we supply meet our clients and our environmental expectations, we have found that providing a quality used solution keeps the circular economy alive and prevents furniture that has many more years of use from going to landfills. To assist with the resale of this furniture, we have created a Quality Used Stock List, which is available upon request. Should you have any requirements for items not on the stock list, please get in touch with us, as we can also source products from the second-hand market to meet your specifications. #qualityused #circulareconomy #officefurniture #sustainableoffice

Go circular with Green Our products enable our customers to make the transition from the linear to the circular economy. "In the linear economy there’s a huge loss of value in material, energy and much more. At Green Furniture Concept we recognize the importance of considering the full life cycle of products and their materials", says Joakim Lundgren, Head of Design & Sustainability at Green Furniture Concept. While many of us puts an equal sign between circular economy and waste reduction this is just one part of it. The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. To summarize it’s about reduce, reuse and recycle – in that order. "With the circular economy we’re going from value leakage to value creation and value recapture. Already at the drawing table, we find solutions to integrate the concept of material cycles into our product design and material selection", Joakim continues. "Our modular seating and lighting solutions not only add placemaking values and beauty to a space, but they also contribute with a positive impact for the world and help our customers on their transformation journey". #greenfurnitureconcept #wemakeplacesmatter #circular #valuecreation

During the mid to late 20th century, #furnituredesign was nearly 100% linear (take, make, waste). The industry, including manufacturing, has evolved significantly since shifting its focus to recycling (reduce, reuse, recycle - w/waste) to drive #sustainability. But this model still does not close the loop and eliminate waste and designers are looking toward #circularity (reduce, reuse, repair, recycle - eliminating waste) to do so. In our latest blog, you will read three fresh perspectives from innovators in circularity in commercial furniture design on the materials, logistics, and incentives we’ll need to close the loop. https://lnkd.in/gGpYniZa #transformingdesign #idodesign #zerowaste #sustainabledesign #closetheloop

So many of the brands I represent have eco-consciousness embedded in their design and through every stage of production. Jess never throws anything out with residual materials used to create new designs. Check out their Global Balance collection of chairs and stools. New Design Group are dedicated to working with suppliers who embrace sustainability and recycle materials. Their current range of Venue tables use eco-conscious manufacturing materials with less tooling, less components and less environmental impact. And this isn't greenwashing. This is caring about the origin of each and every material, the supply chain and how to deal with waste and recycling. As we emerge from the depths of winter, finally glad to see leaves on the trees, it's a good time to reflect on environmental impact and purchasing choices. #SustainableLiving #EcoLiving #SustainableFurniture #Sustainability #ContractFurniture

Working for a furniture rental company has me thinking quite a bit about the Circular Economy. The concept signals an addition to the traditional linear economic models (Take, Make, Dispose model of production and consumption), offering an economic means of production centered on reducing waste and resource depletion. Consider the furniture industry: Globally, an enormous volume of furniture (millions of tons annually) ends up in landfills, indicating a tangible problem the circular economy can seek to solve. The circular economy of the rental furniture industry involves the continual use, reuse, and recycling of pieces, a process that not only mitigates waste but also ushers in economic benefits. The World Economic Forum projects that a shift towards such a system could unlock $4.5 trillion of economic potential globally by 2030. Moreover, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation Foundation estimates that embracing circular strategies could add $1 trillion to the global economy by 2025. Opportunities abound. Seems clear that the transition isn't merely a strategic choice or only an environmental imperative, but immense economic opportunity. It marks a step towards a more sustainable and economically rewarding future, one where waste can be turned into wealth. Pretty exciting. Hope everyone is having an exceptional week. - John - #economics #sustainability #furniturerental #future #innovation Damien Hirst, Circular Spin Painting, 2009

Furniture is one of the fastest growing recommerce categories in the world, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9 percent since 2020. It is expected to reach $23.6 billion by 2025. And this makes sense: 9 million tons of furniture is sent to the landfill annually according to the EPA, many of which comes from our offices. It's a major reason why FF&E represents a large percentage of the $27M in gross market value on Rheaply today. Explore FF&E reuse and its benefits to a circular economy in our newest blog article.
