Why are we trying to mandate insurance covers conversion therapy? Every single scientific study has shown, it is not going to work and is in fact harmful. This is just another example of the Republican super majority pressing a failing campaign against the LGBTQ community.
With the state of homeowners insurance and car insurance and the ridiculous premiums we are needing to pay, why is the State of Florida attacking health insurance next? Are you trying to price everybody out of being able to live here?
And this is very bad for business, tourism and conventions coming to Florida. Companies cannot guarantee their employees safety in the political climate in Florida right now. Multiple conventions canceled after the original slate of hate was passed in 2023. And companies are offering employees relocation out of Florida if they choose to leave. When people have to evacuate their home and their lives because they are not safe, we are on a very wrong path.
Over 22 states ban conversion therapy. In Florida, however, a bill has just passed committee that would not only legalize the practice, but require health insurance to cover it.
The bill would also ban drivers license gender marker changes.
