HNO International (HNOI) has successfully refuelled a Toyota Mirai hydrogen car using its compact hydrogen refuelling station. The demonstration, which took place at the company’s hydrogen facility in Houston, USA, confirmed the effectiveness of the CHRS system and highlighted its adaptability to different types of vehicles, including FCEVs and fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicles (ICEVs). Le Mans organizer reveals MissionH24 hydrogen-electric racer: It's not just in the world of production cars where companies are looking to curb carbon emissions. It's also on the racetrack. The HySE research association, including Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Honda, Kawasaki Motors, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Suzuki Motor Corporation, and Toyota Motor Corporation, will enter the hydrogen engine vehicle HySE-X1 in the Mission 1000 Challenge of next year's Dakar Rally. Mission 1000 is part of the Dakar Future Program, an initiative aimed at urging automakers to develop next-generation carbon-neutral powertrain technologies like hydrogen engines. Ferrari is exploring hydrogen internal combustion engine prototypes as a possible alternative to EV. I recently spent time in the US realising the sound of the engine was important to drivers and could be a reason some may not to switch to electric. At World Energy Congress this week I spoke with Extreme E who is pioneering hydrogen fuel cells for their off-road racing. Motorsport already able to explore renewables, fuel and engine innovations within the sport, a great partner for travel and transport innovation. Motorsports and F1 (McLaren Racing and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team) also have supported SAF recently, another renewable fuel for travel and can be used in standard aircraft engines. The Alpenglow Hy4 is said to mark something of a turning point. Of course there’s the usual line about motorsport influencing road cars - ‘Alpine firmly believes in the role of motorsport as an accelerator for the development of future mobility technologies’ is the soundbite this time - but also a declaration of support for hydrogen from Renault. A joint venture with Plug called HYVIA is promising hydrogen charging stations (with liquid hydrogen being explored also), fleet financing and maintenance for a hydrogen fuel cell commercial vehicle will be in place, there’s going to be a hybrid using a hydrogen range extender, and there are engines in development specifically designed to be powered by hydrogen. They will be for ‘high-powered extra-urban commercial use and specific sportier purposes.’

They will contribute to the objective of - Paris 2024 - Comité d'organisation des Jeux Olympiques et Paralympiques de 2024 - to halve the carbon emissions of this event compared to previous ones.
