Supervisors Jeff Heckendorf and Glenda Loomans were invited to present at the #Wisconsin County Circuit Court Clerks Association Annual Conference last week, where they covered topics ranging from client financials and CCAP to relevant #WICorrections policies and procedures. During the engaging session, Jeff and Glenda not only answered questions, but also reinforced our agency's dedication to fostering regular communication and collaboration with this vital group of #stakeholders. Meet 8-week-old black lab, Mac! Oregon Correctional Center has partnered with Custom Canines #ServiceDog Academy to carefully select two persons in our care to be Mac's handlers until he is 18-24 months old. Their duties include loving, socializing and teaching him basic #obedience until he's ready to assist #military #veterans and #firstresponders with #disabilities. Mac has already had a positive impact and always has an audience who enjoy watching him run around exploring his new surroundings. Several have expressed their joy, mentioning how Mac has brought a new kind of happiness into their lives. With plans to having up to 5 dogs in the future, #WICorrections staff and participants are reveling in his presence and the infectious puppy energy he brings to the center for now. Congratulations to 8 students on becoming the second #WICorrections group to earn their #bachelorsdegree in Biblical Studies with a minor in #Psychology last week! 🎓 Despite challenges including pandemic precautions during the initial year and the program's relocation to Fox Lake Correctional Institution last year, these #graduates persevered and completed all required coursework.
