After months of honing their #career skills and crafting future #business proposals, 24 women proudly donned caps and gowns to celebrate their graduation from the #Entrepreneur In Training (EIT) program. 🎓💡 The collaborative partnership offers free job readiness and #entrepreneurship training to justice-involved individuals. Volunteer coaches help participants practice interview skills, develop résumés and discuss business ideas with experienced professionals. At the final business pitch competition, six finalists prevailed and received monetary support for their businesses from the University of Wisconsin-Extension and Defy Ventures. Upon release, all graduates are offered additional job coaching sessions, business support and personal laptops. #WICorrections thanks the dedicated staff at Robert E. On Wednesday, September 18, the first class of Executive Leader Prep officially concluded with a graduation ceremony held at the Wisconsin Historical Society. Racine Correctional Institution recently rolled out the red carpet for a special performance of Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, "King Lear." Directed by Dr. Jonathan Shailor, the talented cast—starring persons in #WICorrections care—performed the entire script of the play to celebrate 20 years of The #Shakespeare #Prison Project at the facility. Cast members were also permitted to invite their friends and family to cheer them on from the audience. Remarkably, the group had only three months of rehearsal time to prepare for this production, which lasted four hours! In addition to completing her own job duties as a recreation leader at Redgranite Correctional Institution, Carrie Jahnke coordinates meetings with Patriot K9s of Wisconsin dog handlers, manages the inventory and ensures the dogs' needs are met within a timely manner.
