Village of Freeburg IL started a new Jaeger Aeration plant 9 months ago. how is it going? John Tolan (PWD) and Buddy Lament (Chief Operator) have been building up biomass from their old small package plant. In the last month they have finally reached a biomass of 3000 ppm MLSS in their aeration basins. So, we improved on their process control by implementing the #OxyProcess Cyclic Aeration control. Based on only a 25-30% loading to the plant, we have DO control and operated the blowers for 15 minutes on and 60 minutes off. Trending indicated that was too much on time - even under DO limited control as the blower could not have enough turndown. So we lowered the ON time available to only 10 minutes. Next we had the blowers off for 60 minutes and monitored the nitrates which started at over 30 ppm effluent prior to #OxyProcess. We eventually achieved a <1.0 ppm Nitrate effluent with still 0.0 ppm Ammonia. Next we will start to refine the treatment to focus on more bio P uptake and adjust our cycles accordingly. Currently the blowers are only on for 10 minutes under DO control - then off for 78 minutes in our basin. So in a 90 minute period we are only under high energy for 10 minutes - we are then mixing the basin with only one 7.5 HP #KSB mixer to each basin. Energy saving$ is great. Here is a video of the project and performance. We thank our partners in the Village of Freeburg IL, #BurnsandMcDonnell and #Haier Construction. The city is set for growth and effluent performance significantly lower than their NPDES permit requirements. We used our retrievable #OxyProcess #OxyLift #OxyStrip #OxyTransport #OxyCart and nearly 60 years of experience into this project and performance shows success.

Last week our team captured some fascinating footage of our recent degritting project. This showcases just one of the many methods we use, depending on material, access, etc. Given the limited access to the tank, our clamshell technique proved to the most effective. Over the course of 4 days, we successfully removed 600t of material. In addition, we took the opportunity to overhaul the client's internal mixer, securing all necessary parts and completing the task seamlessly alongside the degritting project. How do you handle those big square biomass bales with a bit less headache? 🤔 🌾   Typically, there are about 6 strings going around the largest square bales, making up to 40 meters of twine in total. The latest version of large square bales has 8 strings wrapping around them, which adds up to 53 meters of twine.
