Foundations for a long, healthy life: 1. Good food. Unprocessed. As close to natural as possible. 2. Integrated, natural movement. A daily life that involves using the body as it's designed to be used. 3. Connection with the sight, smells, sounds and rhythm of nature and with other people. 4. A sense of purpose: an embodied sense that how you fill your day is useful and necessary. Western hospitals actively remove all four of these elements from a patient's routine. The food is industrially cooked of low-grade ingredients and over-processed. Movement is discouraged in case 'something happens'. The patient sits or lies all day and waits. Nature is elsewhere. Most human contact is with medical staff, not conversational but informational. The patient feels removed from the world, not part of it. Purpose becomes something to pursue 'when better'.
