https://lnkd.in/eCBrixQY I found this an intriguing article and I was wondering how the square footage of Walt Disney World (or Disneyland) compares to some states: Compared to the smallest state, Rhode Island (1,045 square miles) is over 26 times bigger than WDW. Compared to the largest state, Alaska (571,951 square miles) is over 14,665 times bigger than WDW. Compared with California, CA (155,959 square miles) is over 3,318 times bigger than Disneyland (which is 47 square miles, instead of 39 square miles, like in FL). Compared with Florida, FL (53,927 square miles) is over 1,382 square miles bigger than WDW. And I love to hear about Disney fans - I knew they threw weddings around the parks, but not marathons! "The most fervent fans visit Orlando practically every chance they get, even running marathons and throwing weddings (sometimes several weddings) there. The introduction of “Disney adult” into the internet lexicon has made clear that Disney World isn’t just a vacation but a lifestyle." The are a lot of numbers in the article, but the fact that The Magic Kingdom is the most visited theme park in the world - 47,060,000 million total visitors. An impressive number.

🎢 How exciting is Merlin Entertainments recent campaign?🎢 Ok so maybe this is where I prove to be a marketing geek... BUT with the recent advert that was released a few days ago I got a little giddy! I'm sure you are aware but Merlin is the business which owns Alton Towers Resort, LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, Madame Tussauds , lastminute.com and the London Eye (to name a few!) and I am sure, even at the mention of each of the brands names you can picture their logos or even their adverts from previous years. Let's face it Alton Towers soundtrack is iconic! ✨ BUT, what we have this year is a stroke of genius, unifying each brand to create a campaign that has a clear target market - families with budget constraints. The campaign creates a journey for the audience and really takes advantage of emotional story telling, turning the joy of watching our children pretend play into the joy of creating memories as a family! Low cost ideas for summer that peels my children away from computer games and screens is always a winner! - even the adults in the advert are not glued to their phones!! (only one scene where a selfie is taken') #offthegrid 😂 Professionally, this new campaign reiterates the importance of: 💣 Refreshing a brand or campaign 💣 When marketing your business show you have a clear audience 💣 Make sure you understand your audience and what their pain points are 💣 Emotion sells! 🏆 If an ad being your Mum’s “favourite one on TV at the moment” isn’t a valid enough reason to write about Ritz’s ‘Ready When You Aren’t’, then I don’t know what is! 🌟 But, more seriously, she’s not alone - we put the ad to the public and the results were strong. Very strong, actually. And in large part, it’s because it was based around that all important feature… ✨ The relatable insight. 🔀 While there are of course many paths and approaches to connect with consumers, time and time again, we’re reminded of the power that a relevant and relatable insight can hold when it comes to building an authentic connection with consumers. It underpins many of the top ads in our extensive database.  🔨 Ritz hit the nail on the head here with ‘Ready When You Aren’t’. Tapping into the familiar sense of panic when guests arrive early, the brand captured this feeling through a series of slapstick scenes depicting a family frantically cleaning every inch of the house, as visitors waited patiently at the door.  😌 Crucially, this all laddered up to a clear message. Juxtaposing the commotion around the house, the box of Ritz sat calmly on the kitchen countertop — a simple pour into a bowl being all that was needed to prepare a great snack for the guests. Ultimately, presenting the brand as the solution to the problem at hand, highlighting its convenience and, more specifically, that it was the perfect shareable snack for when you need something at short notice. 👏 Kudos to Ritz on delivering an absolute cracker of an ad. Is anyone else watching “Owning Manhattan” on Netflix?😅 It’s a great show about New York Real Estate, similar to Selling Sunset (only in my opinion… better houses! and better storytelling). What I particularly enjoyed about the show was seeing that these realtors understood the power of event and experiential marketing. There are multiple moments throughout the season that showcase this: - Chloe’s experiential open house party with themed cocktails, synchronized swimmers and immersive plant decor.  - Multiple open houses with themed snacks and refreshments. - The intimate team dinner as a means of retaining top employees. - Ryan’s business anniversary party (to build company culture & showcase the brand). - The music video that Jade produced to sell a commercial property. Elevating your open house to be more of an event is probably one of the better marketing investments you can make. You’re really able to showcase the lifestyle your buyers are getting when they purchase the home. After all, it’s the lifestyle you’re selling, it’s emotion, its not a house. #OwningManhattan #EventMarketing #EventPlanner

FOR ADWEEK: I've been covering brand activations and marketing stunts happening at the Sundance Film Festival, which began in Park City on Thursday and will continue film screenings in other locations and online until this Sunday. What were brands doing at the festival? - DoorDash and Wavemaker created a pop-up convenience store and gave away free essential items, hot chocolate, snacks... And some VIP gifts. DoorDash consumer brand marketer Lauren Schrimmer talked with me about why it activated at the festival & how the pop-up is an extension of DoorDash's new "Your Door to More" campaign with Wieden Kennedy. I noticed it was busy throughout the event, with as many as 50 people at a time waiting in line. - Digital wine retailer Sommsation took over Old Town Cellars, a popular winery on Park City Main Street. Marketing director Lindsey Mericka and ROXSTAR ENTERTAINMENT LLC's David B. Manning talked me through how the new online wine marketplace will connect with consumers as a "wine experience company." Pop-ups like the one at Sundance are key to helping its target audience understand the brand's messaging. There's more on this in the story. - Film producer Peter Kuplowsky, IFC and Shudder pulled off a marketing stunt on Main Street to advertise the new Sundance horror movie 'In a Violent Nature.' It involved making and distributing fake Wanted posters depicting the killer in the movie. Then, actor Ry Barrett reprised his role as slasher villain Johnny and walked around the festival. Some volunteers apparently thought the posters were real, and flagged down local police when they saw the actor (see the video in the story.) - Sponsors Chase, Audible, Adobe, Acura, Dropbox, Canon Inc., United Talent Agency, Cotopaxi, Mark Anthony Group (White Claw), Shutterstock and United Airlines each took over businesses on Main Street and created branded lounges or pop-ups, where they hosted their own events throughout the festival's opening week.
