Something good for the Additive Manufacturing industry just happened. Congrats to the ELEMENTUM 3D team, RPM Innovations, Inc. and Paul Gradl's team at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. We're glad that an Aluminum Alloy is the selected material. This project paves the way for more AM nozzle applications, bringing up a key question: what value does the AM process bring to the table? This article mentions benefits in lead time, streamlined manufacturing process. All of that adds value to an attractive cost of ownership. Something to chat about at AMUG (Additive Manufacturing Users Group). #aluminum #aluminium #aerospacemanufacturing #rocketscience #additivemanufacturing #nozzles https://lnkd.in/gtF63YE6

The remarkable X-66 Sustainable Flight Demonstrator is in the early stages of production with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration. This stunning new render highlights the X-66’s Transonic Truss-Braced Wing concept comprising extra-long, thin wings supported by diagonal struts. When combined with advancements in propulsion systems, materials, and systems architecture, this configuration could result in reduced emissions and as much as 30% less fuel consumption than today’s best-in-class aircraft.

Material science centered around high efficient composites and it's structural engineering is the crucial part of any space going vehichle.
NASA, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, has long been at the forefront of technological advancements and scientific breakthroughs in the field of aerospace. One area where NASA has made significant contributions is in the development and utilization of composites. 😍 NASA recognized the potential of composites early on and has extensively used them in various space missions. Composites have played a crucial role in the construction of spacecraft, including satellites, shuttles, and rovers.😃 In 2014, a team of engineers from NASA and Boeing came up with a unique propellant tank design and manufacturing process to build one of the largest composite rocket fuel tanks ever made. The 5.5-meter-diameter tank was be tested with cryogenic hydrogen at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama! 😎 #composites #composite #compósitos #compositematerials #materialsengineering #fibers #lightweight #reinforcedplastics

Relocating manufacturing in… space 😮 The more I watch this video, the more I am thinking about it : can we set-up a manufacturing facility in space? Can we imagine something on a ISS-clone? Or on a planet? 😐 Can you imagine getting supplied with parts made in space? 🙂 Today’s technologies are developing fast, we are gaining more & more confidence in space travels and the more we’re discovering space the closer we get to be able to make something up there. Science fiction movies will appear to be right, like 3D printing in the 70s 👏🏼 #space #additivemanufacturing #industry #manufacturing #vision #future Northrop Grumman Thales Alenia Space Thales Defence Thales Aerospace Airbus Defence and Space Safran - Space European Space Agency - ESA NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration SpaceX #elonmusk

NASA is constantly pushing the boundaries of innovation, especially when it comes to making efficient use of available space. Printed electronics could reshape how spacecraft are built for future missions. Brian Banks, an electronics engineer from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility, explained, "The hybrid technology allows for circuits to be fabricated in locations that would typically not be available for conventional electronics modules." It is so exciting to see hybrid technology being used to revolutionize space travel and exploration! 🚀🌟 Learn more here from Interesting Engineering: https://fal.cn/3AmGm #chasm #advancedmaterials #materialsengineering #materialsscience #printedelectronics #hybridtechnology #nanotechnology #nanomaterials #cnt #nanotubes #nasa NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration

📢 Last week, we told you about the WAMS 2024 conference in Orlando. Organized by the European Space Agency - ESA Agency and NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration, the symposium, whose title was Shaping the Future of Additive Manufacturing, was a great success with our team on site. To quote our colleague nicolas nutal "Outstanding symposium on metal additive manufacturing with lots of interesting talks and productive discussions" ✔ As a reminder, here are the various conferences held by the CRM Group during the event: - Postprocessing of additively manufactured components with complex geometries – (Nicolas Nutal) - Development of Al-Zn-Mg alloys for Direct Energy Deposition and repair applications – (Norberto Jimenez Mena) - Development of a New Beta-metastable Titanium Alloy for Additive Manufacturing – (N. Jimenez) A highly successful symposium on space, air and ground transportation technologies! 🚀 #WAMS2024 #AdditiveManufacturing #Innovation #Orlando #CRMGroup #WorldwideAdvancedManufacturingSymposium #ESA #Nasa
