Westlake is pleased to announce the appointment of Jean-Marc Gilson as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of Westlake. Albert Chao will transition to Executive Chairman of the Westlake Board of Directors, and James Chao, Chairman of the Board, will become Senior Chairman. These appointments are effective today.
After 20 years as CEO of Westlake, Albert believes now is the right time to transition the role to the next generation of leadership. Jean-Marc is a deeply accomplished leader with 25-years of executive experience in the chemical industry. He has extensive international expertise and a proven track record of delivering sustained financial performance. Following a thoughtful succession planning process, the Westlake Board of Directors is confident Jean-Marc is the right person to continue Westlake’s track record of delivering market-leading financial results, disciplined growth and culture of sustained shareholder value creation.
In their new roles, Albert and James will continue their active stewardship of the Company and work closely with Jean-Marc to drive Westlake’s long-term growth.
