Back in February, Craig got in touch with us to share his dream of having his photo taken whilst dressed in the school crossing patroller and green civil enforcement officer uniforms.
We were delighted to help Craig with this and invited him along to Shaw House to try on the vast array of uniforms officers at the Council wear on a daily basis.
Craig was photographed as a Veolia waste management officer, a Roundhead, Cavalier, Shaw House visitor services officer, civil enforcement officer, a transport and countryside officer and, of course, a school crossing patroller, all organised by Road Safety Technician, Joanne Bassett.
Today we've been, sort of, trying on different uniforms,
and I've been getting different pictures with different uniforms that the Council
have a number of different job roles for. So things like the parking attendant,
the traffic control, lots of different uniforms. Craig first sent his email through You know, he had, sort of grand visions
of being a civil enforcement officer, I think was your first choice, wasn't it? And then we realised quite quickly
we could help him realise his dreams really. So we just kind of I spoke to most service areas and sort of found as many uniforms
as I could get my hands on. Youve been waste management haven't you for Veolia. We've been a school crossing patroller. A Roundhead, a Cavalier. Shaw House visitor services officer. Yeah. School crossing patroller. civil enforcement officer. I sort of enjoy sort of the uniform and making me look
sort of proud and happy, and it sort of makes, I've been trying to do different hobbies,
and I came up with this hobby to fulfil
sort of my passion into the services. It's been really exciting. It's made me quite happy and I think it's
boosted my confidence quite a bit. I've really enjoyed my time here
this afternoon. It's just been a real pleasure
to have you along today. Thank you so much. I hope you've enjoyed it. Yeah. Thank you so much everyone.
The next project that Craig wants to complete is collecting as many lanyards as possible to beat the Guinness World Record. Craig has been collecting lanyards from different events and organisations since 2021. He currently has 2700 and to beat the record he needs to gather a collection of more than 3260 lanyards.
Lanyards need to be unique, and branded with a logo or similar. Plain coloured ones sadly don’t count.
If you have a branded lanyard from an event or organisation that you could donate to help Craig on his way to the record, please email [email protected].
It’s Firefighter Safety Stand Down Week. Abandoned and condemned structures are high-risk buildings, and they are hazardous to firefighters and communities. Many high-risk buildings are structurally unsound and not safe for any person to enter. Firefighters are at increased risk of injury or death when responding to these types of buildings. Reduce the risk for firefighters by partnering with fire departments to address high-risk buildings. Learn more during National Safety Month: https://bit.ly/3xwfQw1

RACE is an acronym for a procedure on how to respond to fire emergencies when they occur. Mainly used in fire safety management and serves as a quick reminder of what to do when there is a fire in an area.
The RACE fire plan can serve as an in-house procedure to guide everyone on how to respond to fire emergencies within an establishment.
During this second week of National Safety Month, the National Safety Council (NSC) is raising awareness of roadway safety. OSI reminds you to buckle up and avoid speeding, impairment, and distractions!
