Don't miss Amy Boyd Rabin's latest in WBUR's Cognoscenti! https://lnkd.in/gdUJ5xvG "You can easily drive yourself crazy working to squeeze your carbon footprint as small as it can go. And, ultimately, as an individual, it’s nowhere near enough." That's why strong climate legislation, and the collective action that gets us there, is so important. Before the end of the 2023-2024 legislative session on July 31st, ELM is working to see the climate omnibus bill through the finish line, ensuring that we can move toward our shared climate goals, and grow our clean energy economy. - - - #MAClimateBill #MAPoli #ClimateLegislation #CleanEnergy #CleanEnergyEconomy #GreenEconomy #NetZero

Scientists have been warning about the dangers of greenhouse gases for more than half a century. The fossil-fuel industry has worked for decades to deny both climate science and its own history. Its latest move is to blame consumers for the climate crisis. https://lnkd.in/gMDTZ8vR #gasindustry #gaslighting #public #climatechange #blaming #consumers #climatecrisis #greenhouse #emmissions

South Carolina’s House Bill 5118, and the State’s grant Priority Climate Action Plan (PCAP) are contradictory. Will this end up in a new Nukegate, or can the local stakeholders get together, so that South Carolina can secure affordable, stable, and healthy energy, something the industry needs to continue the journey of developing South Carolina into a manufacturing powerhouse that it’s about to become? The single most important way to slow climate change right now is to cut emissions of methane, a highly potent, short-term greenhouse gas. To do that, we need to see the total picture — from space. Watch Millie Chu Baird, who leads innovative projects at the Environmental Defense Fund, as she explains in this TED Talk (TED Conferences) the vision for MethaneSAT. https://buff.ly/4dveS2F #MethaneSAT #Methane #ClimateChange #ClimateAction #EmissionReduction #MethaneReduction

https://lnkd.in/euEKXNUF Highly recommend folks go or tune in to this weather and climate briefing. Lots of implications for Federal (and int'l) policy-making, and this year with the weather act and farm bill re-authorizations it's quite timely.
Join us this Thursday, February 15, at 3:00 PM EST for a briefing about the the latest innovations in weather forecasting and communication to improve community resilience, awareness, and preparedness.

Earth’s land resources are limited. How we use and manage land is critical to our energy system and to the future of our climate. Yet the current approaches don’t match the scale and complexity of the land systems challenge. Find out what CATF is doing about it: https://lnkd.in/eDFyvY7t

For more than a decade, climate advocates and policymakers have argued for a “keep oil in the ground” approach to confront climate change. But EPIC Scholars Ryan Kellogg (Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago) and Thomas Covert (University of Chicago Energy and Environment Lab) find that blocking fossil fuel pipelines can lead fossil fuels to shift to other—potentially more polluting—transportation modes like rail, rather than staying in the ground. If the Dakota Access Pipeline had been blocked, it would have reduced some carbon, but the increase in local pollution from rail would cost $588,000/day. Last day to comment on CU Boulder’s draft climate action plan. I put these general comments: I’d like to see greater emphasis on electrification from buildings to vehicles. Please cover empty rooftops with solar panels, put better insulation & heat pumps in buildings, install outdoor electrical outlets on every parking lot light pole (L1 charging), add induction stoves in every kitchen, replace old toilets with 1-pint flush toilets with bidets, stream environmental films on demand, and distribute free RTD EcoPasses for all students, staff, and faculty. #cuboulder #climateadaptation #bouldercolorado #climateaction

And don't miss our presentation in the afternoon session of the 21st (Session 7 Stream 2 Storage Characterization): "Re-processing, re-purposing and re-invigorating legacy seismic: A 2D offshore East Coast India Case Study"
Carbon capture storage is one of the main ways we can mitigate climate change. But deployment at scale remains the challenge. We’re working to make the most of our in-house expertise and our marine seismic technology to build a more sustainable future. We’re proud to sponsor in this important symposium that will explore how the industry can move from intention to action.
