The UP-TO-ME project is not only producing a clean fuel for marine vessels but also for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV) HGVs are responsible for more than 25% of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from road transport in the EU, and they account for over 6% of the total EU GHG emissions. By producing a clean renewable fuel for these vehicles, the UP-TO-ME project is hugely contributing to the journey to a net-zero EU economy. 💡Introducing Astronergy's commitment to a greener world at the PV Magazine Roundtable Europe! 🎯On December 5th, He Baohua, our Global Technical Service Director, participated in the event and dived into Astronergy's sustainability commitments. This year, Astronergy unveiled its Sustainability Strategy and set an ambitious goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. 🌎He emphasized that we're not just making promises but taking concrete actions to lower our carbon footprints. In 2023, Astronergy completed the first zero-carbon factory certified by TÜV Rheinland in the PV industry. We anticipate a target of completing eight zero-carbon factories by 2028. Coordinated by HYDRUS and including the NTUA among its experienced #consortium, the project develops next-generation, sustainable, commercially attractive, and safe long-term storage and long-distance transportation of LH2 for commercial vessels. 🌊This includes the analysis of alternative conceptual designs with early-stage safety and risk assessments of the cargo containment system (CCS) exceeding currently demonstrated sizes. The CCS will achieve Approval in Principle (AiP) and general approval by a major classification society, with demonstrations involving detailed #design, #construction, and #testing of a reduced-size #prototype. 🌊LH2CRAFT will also develop a preliminary integrated #ship #design, perform cost estimations, and achieve reduced boil-off rates of 0.5% per day. 📢We are excited to share that Astronergy has earned the “Certification of Carbon Neutrality for Public Welfare” from the Guizhou Green Finance and Emission Exchange, a member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)! During the construction, Astronergy minimized the overall carbon emissions of its booth by selecting environmentally friendly materials. Additionally, the company purchased 34 tons of Public Building Carbon Emission Reductions (PBCER) from the Exchange, offsetting 33.26 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions and achieving a state of carbon neutrality. 🌎Haiyan Huang, Astronergy's EVP & CSO, emphasized the company’s dedication to sustainability, “Astronergy integrates green and low-carbon principles into our corporate DNA. We believe in the necessity of investing in #climate #mitigating #practices and #technologies. We have therefore joined with other private equity investors in the next €1 million funding round of Soletair Power through our Søren Jensen RaceToZero Invest. Thanks to our co-investors Halton Group (Halton Ventures Oy), Helkama Kiinteistöt Oy, Kari Kolu Holding Oy, Suffice International Limited. And thanks to the entire Soletair Power team lead by Petri Laakso. We have joined the investment round as we see a positive future role of the #built #environment in #climate #mitigation. A role where new and existing building stock through technologies such as Building Integrated Carbon Capture (#BICC) can both financially and physically contribute to the atmospheric #regeneration and the nascent #carbon #economy. However, financial and technological investments cannot stand alone. The build environment must also continue on the route laid out by the IPCC through the SER practices (#Sufficient, #Efficient and #Renewable).
