At Central Arc Angels we are in the final few days of applications for our next Pitch Event on 21st November. If you are based in #MiltonKeynes, #Beds, or #Northants and are looking for #equityfunding in the early stages of your business we might be a good fit for you. We facilitate bringing angel investors and business founders together offering support to the business founder in their pitch through an online training session - 3rd November, founders are invited to pitch at our online practice pitch on 9th November where you'll get feedback from investors on your offer and your pitch. 3 or 4 of the founders will be invited to pitch at the live event on 21st November. The live pitch event is followed by dinner allowing you to continue networking with the angels. #CentralArcAngels is a conduit for local business founders seeking funding, and angel investors interested in investing in local businesses. We also provide support, education, and training to founders and potential angel investors to help them become investment ready. The tailored training we provide demonstrates our commitment to supporting early-stage businesses and aspiring angels to navigate a challenging process.  We are not a fund nor a syndicate – we are a group of business professionals who want to support the early stage eco system raise funding, grow their businesses, create high valued jobs, and improve the local economy. In just a few hours I am going to be welcoming the members of Startup 2 Standup to join our Tuesday 6pm call. Perhaps no surprise among a group of ambitious, curious, business owners. I'm endlessly fascinated by the topics, what we discuss, and the differences of perspective. Here is a quick list of things that founders should do when starting to fundraise: 1. Does my pitch resonate? Ask founders who've previously raised in your sector about your chances of raising. Don't know anyone like that? Do cold outreach to founders on LinkedIn. Do many outreaches; eventually, you will find people to help you. If founders tell you your pitch won't resonate with investors, you should ask why and what could be done differently. 2. Pitch resonates, then what? Create a list of VCs who specialize in your sector. Just google for "gaming vc list." Use a spreadsheet to list and track your fundraising process. I have such lists on EGD, just google for "EGD News #109 — Success in fundraising" 3. Talk to actual investors Pitch a few VCs and get feedback on questions: is it the right time to raise? What needs to happen to raise? You might hit the jackpot and get several VCs interested quickly. If that happens, move on to point 5. 4. Iterate your pitch Improving the pitch will help investors to understand your company better. VCs are busy people, and they might overlook important details in your company, the market, and the capabilities of the founders. Ensure to highlight the essential details, but don't clutter your pitch with obvious stuff. 5. Run the process If you get an investor interested, ask them to share a term sheet indicating how much they will invest and at what kind of valuation. If they are a smaller investor who can't lead the round, ask them to help you find a lead. Founders should optimize for the best valuation to an extent, but the best thing to optimize for is the value the investors add. Do reference checks with founders who've worked with the investors. Make sure you partner with the right people.

20 steps I've used to help founders raise $125M : Pitch decks get all the glory, but they're just part of the puzzle. I booked meetings with 10 European investors/VCs in 1 month to pitch my previous startup. (and got an investment eventually!) Here’s how I did it: 1/ Made a long list of potential investors/VCs. 2/ Sorted the ones that invest in my geo, stage, and industry. 3/ Prioritized the ones who raised a fund recently. 4/ Researched the investors. 5/ Asked for warm intros from my network. 6/ Drafted the emails of the warm intros. 7/ And the emails of the cold outreach. 8/ Personalized each email according to each investor. 9/ Focused on the storytelling and the team (and not pitch deck) 10/ Didn’t send all emails in one go. Stuck to 10-15/day. 11/ Followed-up, but didn’t overdo it. (Twice is my limit) 12/ Used software for booking meetings and tracking (Calendly & Notion) BONUS: Kept my expectations in check.
