🌈 This June, the SBTDC celebrates Pride Month by acknowledging the invaluable contributions of LGBTQ businesses in our communities. Per SBA's website, LGBTQ businesses contribute an estimated $1.7 trillion to America's economy, while also providing essential services and diversifying the workforce. From innovative start-ups to established enterprises, small businesses play a vital role in impacting both local and global economies, and the SBTDC is here to support those business ventures. Today, we observe the Vow of Silence in solidarity with LGBTQ students who are facing discrimination and harassment in the educational environment. Let’s take this opportunity to spread awareness and challenge existing biases that contribute to the systemic oppression of LBGTQ students. We at US² encourage everyone to Break this Silence and be an active part of meaningful change—let's create an inclusive environment where LGBTQ students are seen, heard, welcomed, and valued. "LGBTQ designers bring a wealth of diverse experiences and perspectives to the table, which naturally leads to more inclusive design solutions. They’re often more inclined to challenge the status quo and question established design conventions, which can really drive innovation in the field." As we wrap up Pride month we sat down with San Francisco Principal Enrique Sánchez to discuss how LGBTQ designers are changing the industry, how firms can support the queer community, and the importance of allies. #Pride #Design #LGBTQIAVoices

RiSE up for PRIDE Every year, companies across the world show up in recognition of Pride. But the reality is that our LGBTQ community expect more than a once-a-year acknowledgement. They want to drive real change, where change is needed, and where better to start than the workplace. UCLA research states that 1 in 3 LGBT employees have left a job due to a lack of LGBT inclusion in their workplace. At RES, the work of RiSE has impacted our colleagues, networks, regions and businesses, and through their committed efforts RiSE have driven change and powered progress internally. New Episode! Dominic Arnall - Open for Business (Disney, Bud Light, and the Business Case for LGBT Inclusion) https://lnkd.in/ganpsGZX In this episode I’m talking to Dominic Arnall, CEO of Open for Business, an international coalition dedicated to working with the business community to advance LGBT rights globally. Open for Business advances LGBT inclusion and creates change in three ways – by constructing and promoting the economic business case, by catalyzing a global business voice on LGBT inclusion, and by mobilizing local business leaders to advance LGBT inclusion. We talk about some of their initiatives, their research, the practice of corporate pinkwashing, some of the best and worst places to do business, how companies support the LGBT community in ways that aren’t necessarily visible, how the US right-wing attacks on LGBT supportive business could impact the community, as well as business practices around the world, Ron DeSantis' war against Disney, The right-wing war against Dylan Mulvaney and Bud Light,if we could be experiencing an emerging paradigm that pits an LGBT positive economic model against an anti-LGBT model, and more. #lgbtqia #lgbtqcommunity #lgbtqpride #pinkwashing #europe #unitedstates #florida #rondesantis #disney #budlight #malta #singapore #caribbean #sanfrancisco #transrights #uk #russia #china #queerrights #pride #pridemonth #target #starbucks #bias #discriminationlaw #hatecrimes #rightwing

Happy pride month! 🏳️🌈❤️ As we step into this vibrant month of celebration, I want to take a moment to reflect on the importance of visibility for queer individuals in the office space. As a proud lesbian and poly person, I understand the profound impact that being seen and acknowledged can have on an individual. It's about more than just being present; it's about creating a space where we can all feel safe, supported, and free to express our true selves without fear. While we celebrate Pride, we must also confront the rise in hate crimes in Norway (as well as the rest of the world), a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle for true equality. Let's stand united against such hate and advocate for a society where love and acceptance prevail. Visibility matters. It paves the way for understanding, acceptance, and change. This Pride, let's commit to fostering an environment where every voice is heard, every identity is respected, and every person can thrive. Here's to celebrating our unique journeys and the collective progress we've made. #Pride #Inclusivity #Visibility
Wishing everyone a Happy Pride Month! “Here at Crayon, we support the LGBTQ community as a proud ally and inclusive company,” said CEO Melissa Mulholland. “Our focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion helps us embrace what makes us strong—our differences. Pride isn’t just a time to show support, but also a time to celebrate the accomplishments and acknowledge the challenges of LGBTQ people throughout history. Diversity comes in many forms, and it is essential that we recognize people’s different perspectives because they enrich our own experiences.” #Crayon #Pride #Diversity

As an LGBTQ person, I know that the culture of the company you work for strongly affects both your work experience and daily life. I am happy to say that Strata has warmly welcomed me since I started, and it’s wonderful to be part of a company that supports LGBTQ people. It’s very important to highlight that as a community, we need to occupy more spaces, and the construction industry is one of them. According to a survey conducted in 2016 by the Construction Leadership Council, the LGBTQ community represented only 2% of construction employees. Among those LGBTQ surveyed, around 39% reported facing routine discrimination from colleagues or clients. While some aspects of our society seem to be improving since then, much work remains to be done. Facing this kind of situation in the workplace, or in any space, is completely unacceptable, and the community needs allies to fight against discrimination and inequality. If you are not part of the community, please remember that your support and advocacy for LGBTQ rights, dignity, and well-being are more than necessary, and your solidarity can make a big difference. 🏳️🌈✊
Mí Bróid Shona Duit (Happy Pride Month)! This month at Strata ,we celebrate the resilience, and diversity of the LGBTQ community. We also use this opportunity to drive for change by delivering education to our team on how we can foster an even more inclusive construction industry. We stand proud and united in support of equality and love for all. 🌈 #PrideMonth #LGBTQ #Inclusion #Equality #Strata

This June, I reread an article I wrote last year. Unfortunately, we’ve seen MORE legislative harm and attacks on the LGBTQ community over the passing year. It reminded me that the structures we create (in any environment) produce behaviors that serve that structure. As business leaders, we must be very intentional about the structures we create. Are we promoting inclusivity and acceptance? Or are we creating an environment that allows for or excuses exclusivity? The private sector can be a powerful channel to demonstrate what we stand for and demand when legislation fails us. 🏳️🌈 https://lnkd.in/eCTpyYvz
At COLAB, we kicked off Pride Month, celebrating the importance of acceptance and equality for all members of the LGBTQ community. Authenticity, one of our core values, reflects our commitment to embracing the true, multi-faceted self each of us has. We want everyone to feel comfortable showing up every day as their authentic selves, whether you work at or with COLAB. Last year, we wrote about the importance of inclusivity at COLAB. If you missed it, here it is: https://bit.ly/4caAv7Q We strongly encourage you to attend a pride event near you. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our beautiful differences and show your support for the LGBTQ community. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️🌈❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤 #Pride #PrideMonth #DEI #Diversity #Inclusion
