Embracing My Neurodiversity and Rewriting My Path... Over the past few years, my life has taken some unexpected and transformational turns. After being diagnosed with ADHD, and working through a divorce and extreme burnout, I’ve had the opportunity to re-evaluate not only my career but how I show up in the world. I’ve learned that the creativity that always fuelled me deserves its place front and centre in my life. The wide range of personal and professional experiences served me well for a time and while I am grateful for what they taught me; the ‘traditional’ path is not for me. I now know that my version of success and true fulfilment comes from blending creative thinking, problem solving, true collaboration and most importantly, goals have the potential for a rippling positive impact. Like many, I once measured my success by traditional standards, but since my diagnosis, I’ve been given the preverbal ‘permission slip’ to embrace my truth: I’m not wired for one traditional career or a singular focus, and that’s my strength. I’m a proud generalist, someone who sees possibilities where many see roadblocks and I see solutions before most recognise the challenges. And, while I may get over-excited about ALL the ways we solve a problem by making occasional spelling errors along the way, I promise the ideas and solutions I bring will always make up for it. With that said, today I want to share one of the initiatives I've been working on... Correll Kitchen, an events company that provides a space for people to create and connect through a range of sustainable workshops and proudly calling The Ministry our London home. With our natural and seasonal approach we have a wide range of activities from making your own natural body products such as deodorant and laundry detergent, learning how to make jams, pickles and ferments or simply rescue old clothes with natural dying or making beeswax wraps. There is so much more in the works, and I can't wait to share more about these initiatives in the not-to-distant future. Until then, I hope this is the beginning of a wonderful and productive week and I hope we get a chance to catch up (or better yet, meet up) soon! Busy as a Bee: Why We Should All Be More Bee-Like in the Workplace Ever stop to appreciate the humble bee? These seemingly insignificant creatures are actually buzzing powerhouses, playing a vital role in our ecosystem and embodying many of the qualities we value most in the professional world. At first glance, a bee's life might seem monotonous. But beneath the surface lies a complex and fascinating social structure. Honeybees, for instance, live in highly organized hives, each bee meticulously fulfilling its designated role. From foragers who venture out to collect pollen and nectar to worker bees who tend to the young and build the honeycomb, every member contributes to the hive's collective success. This collaborative spirit is a valuable lesson for any team. Just like the hive thrives on the combined efforts of its individual members, so too do our workplaces. By working together, leveraging our strengths, and supporting one another, we can achieve far more than we could alone. But the bee world isn't all about conformity. There are also solitary bee species who don't live in hives. These resourceful individuals still play a crucial role in pollination, demonstrating the importance of diversity and independent contribution. Whether working as part of a team or pursuing a solo path, bees demonstrate the value of hard work and dedication. Their tireless efforts in collecting pollen and nectar not only ensure their own survival but also contribute significantly to the proliferation of plant life. In many ways, bees are the ultimate utility players, essential for a healthy and balanced environment. Here's the thing: we can learn a lot from bees. They remind us that even the smallest among us can have a significant impact. They show us the power of collaboration and the importance of fulfilling our roles with purpose. So, the next time you see a bee buzzing by, take a moment to appreciate its contribution. These tiny creatures are a shining example of how hard work, dedication, and a collaborative spirit can lead to a thriving and prosperous community. In today's workplace, where innovation and efficiency are paramount, the bee's industrious nature serves as a constant source of inspiration. By embracing these bee-like qualities, we can all strive to be more valuable and effective contributors to our professional ecosystems.

Nourishing Communities: Neighborhood Restaurants as Social Infrastructure - Study of a single Tokyo neighborhoodreveals how local eateries serve important economic, social, and political roles in fostering social sustainability. Restaurants or commercial eateries have been an integral part of nearly every urban settlement. Several studies have focused on how communities can help preserve local eateries, but not many have focused on how eateries serve their communities in the context of social sustainability. Against this backdrop, Professor James Farrer conducted an in-depth study of how commercial restaurant scenes in a busy area of Tokyo serve as social infrastructure and support community life. “How do the places in which we live influence how we live?” That question has inspired decades of study in the fields of urban planning and psychology, and researchers continue to find strong evidence human health is a product of our environment. Well-designed communities foster opportunities to stay active and fit, connect with neighbors and friends, and enjoy fresh air and fresh food. Simple as it sounds, those factors make a significant difference – and here in Winter Park, we’re fortunate to live in a city that embraces all of the above. https://lnkd.in/ekryekKC
