The challenge lies in the absence of substantial privacy laws in the past, which has led to current privacy concerns. Had there been adequate laws earlier, they could have safeguarded our data from being exploited by today's datasets and technologies. Although you can limit the data you share now, there's little you can do about the information already collected and utilized.
