Our discussions unveiled the intricate loopholes within previous resolutions, prompting a collective pursuit of innovative solutions. We examined the imperative of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) programs, recognizing the need for robust enforcement mechanisms to ensure universal compliance. Incentives and subsidies emerged as potent catalysts for sustainable practices, yet we acknowledge the criticality of transparent monitoring systems to uphold accountability and efficacy. Standardizing eco-design criteria and labeling heralds a transformative shift towards consumer empowerment, yet it necessitates collaborative efforts to bridge regional disparities and instill trust. Moreover, strategic investments and collaborative ventures are pivotal in unleashing the full potential of circular economy technologies, fostering resilience and inclusivity. The recent IGCC Summit 2023 in Sydney was impactful, and I'd like to share some of the key moments of significance: - Prof. Mark Howden’s presentation showcased this year’s alarming high sea temperatures and emphasised the cost-effectiveness of climate action - Dr. Anika Molesworth urged us to embrace “climate courage”, turning challenges into unprecedented opportunities in sustainable agriculture - The resounding call to “transition faster” echoed throughout the discussions - Sectoral climate pathways and targets, now under development, will be hugely influential in investment decisions and the country’s economic trajectory.
