How does the #digitization of #education impact classrooms in terms of classroom disruptions? How have teachers changed their teaching practices during the pandemic? As part of my PhD project we have conducted an interview study with teachers and asked them about their experiences with classroom disruptions in digital settings during the pandemic. I am happy to announce that the findings are now published in Frontiers in Education free for all to read and discuss: https://lnkd.in/eY3ceBhm

* Teachnology for Teachers Teachers, have a look at this tool. How could you use it to support #differentiation, #personalisation or #inclusion? Play around with it and see. I am trialing it too. Let me know what you think of it. P.S. I am not an affiliate of the creators and am not being compensated in any way. I am, however, trialing digital tools to support my learners, increase my efficiency as a #teacher and sharing what I find. https://lnkd.in/eRVyvDci *** UPDATE! *** Today, I typed in a few prompts and managed to use the tool to create a lesson plan for Number Sequencing (Maths, Year 6). It looks quite good with a range of activities and exercises. It even created an objective, success criteria and a title. I was so impressed that I typed in a new prompt to create a unit on number sequencing. Eduaide drew up a 10-part unit that is sequential and logical. Note that the outputs are only as good as your prompts (inputs) which should include relevant curriculum details, student details (Year group) and any other differentiation/personalization parameters. Also, you must review the outputs for accuracy and amend for suitability. Please remember to adhere to your school’s policies as regards AI and digital technology. #LessonPlanning #SpecialEducationalNeeds #SpecialNeedsSupport

It’s easy to give worksheets out and spend time with lower students so everybody can appear successful in the classroom. It’s hard to create activities that Make processing information or language fundamental to success. I wonder if teaching AI and the skills associated with it require deeper engagement. This article discusses the value of deep engagement and how only a few simple tweaks and lesson plans can result in a more valuable classroom experience. “Researchers found that less than a third of teachers are engaging students in complex learning, limiting student opportunities for building critical thinking and problem solving.” https://lnkd.in/g3kArGcr

Learning styles, to be clear, don’t help us “differentiate” in a classroom. It lets/makes you put all the students into one of four or so boxes (depending on which learning styles you acknowledge as “real”), and then you teach to the learning style — not to the student. What I do is actually more responsive than that, but it also requires the students to respond to me. Ideally, isn’t that collaborative effort what education should really be? And if it is, then why do we do use every institutional lever we have to stop it from happening?
