Great to see some new tools for the water sector! NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s National Weather Service (NWS) Climate Prediction Center (CPC) created the Rapid Onset Drought (ROD) hazard outlook to better predict areas at risk for flash drought development. Many water utilities expressed a need for such a tool in 2020 in the 8 workshops called, Filling the Gaps, Climate and Weather Information for Small- and Medium-Size Water Utilities, by NOAA (CPO, MARISA, GLISA, SERCC, SCIPP, NRCC, & WWA), The Water Research Foundation (WRF), US Water Alliance, University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP), University of Washington, many water utilities, and partners.
