World Green Building Week is doing a Global stocktake to show the status of our efforts in implementing the Paris Agreement. VinZero, an ARKANCE company, is collaborating with 5 Green Building Councils and sharing their favorite examples of world class buildings in #BuildingTheTransition across three themes: the energy transition, regenerative transition and just transition. Three in One : On day 1 of World Green Building Week, VinZero showcases a world class buildings of the future nominated by NZGBC. "This is a tremendous achievement and one that has taken a lot of work and focus. The built environment is 20 per cent of our emissions," NZGBC chief executive Andrew Eagles said. "As the first in the country to successfully achieve all three, it provides a remarkable example of what can be done to reduce the carbon footprint and environmental impacts of our businesses and organizations. "It provides a great example of what is needed if we are to reach our carbon goals." https://hubs.li/Q021zXTg0 #BuildingTheTransition #sustainability #thinkfuture

Starts today World Green Building Week 2023, the world's largest campaign to accelerate the transition to ensure an energy-efficient, regenerative and just future for all. Organized by the World Green Building Council, of which RENOLIT ALKORPLAN is a supporting member, #WGBW23 will host events around the world throughout the week and share examples of #BuildingTheTransition in three areas: energy transition, regenerative transition, and just transition. This year's campaign is also in the context of the United Nations SDG 2023 Summit (Sept. 18-19) and identifies 11 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that are essential to catalyzing a sustainable built environment. Throughout this video you'll see me taking notes - this panel discussion was just a rich treasure trove of information about decarbonisation. I love chairing roundtables like these - you learn so much and meet so many excellent people who are the best in their field. Thanks so much to Sheldon, Bec, Chris, Craig, Helen, Sunny, Alexsandra, Alex, and Heather for the enlightening conversation. You can catch the highlights in the video below!
Retrofitting can not only improve energy efficiency, but also add value. This roundtable discussion, hosted by Hydrock, examined how collaboration, data collection, and clear briefs are the key to unlocking an effective decarbonisation strategy. Participants Craig Anderson, director of smart energy and sustainability at Hydrock Bec Bennett, assistant director of sustainability at the University of Salford Chris Bowie-Hill, director of innovation delivery at Hydrock Helen Cutts, head of sustainability at the University of Central Lancashire Alex Edwards, sustainability director at Bruntwood Heather Evans, national head of sustainability at Rider Levett Bucknall Sunny Johal, development director at Glenbrook Aleksandra Przydrozna, associate director at Mace Sheldon W., partner at Ryder Architecture Chaired by Julia Hatmaker, editor of Place North West Watch the video👇

Hello LinkedIn! Excited to introduce #RegenBuild to the wider AECO community and spark conversations about our collective role in the future of built environment. 🏗️🌍 Our mission is to align the #AECO industry and build public goods to solve coordination problems and accelerate regeneration in the built environment. 🏡 RegenBuild aims to build the first decentralised, digital protocol to measure, report and validate (dMRV) building performance through all phases of a project’s lifecycle and provide funding access to qualified projects. Our project comprises of: 1️⃣ Regenerative Standard: A standard that pushes the status quo of existing green building rating systems and sets a higher bar for the industry. 2️⃣ Collaborative Platform: Our platform allows existing products to plug in and provide validator services at various stages of the project, fostering collaboration and innovation. 3️⃣ Incentive Protocol: We're aligning stakeholders, incentivizing positive outcomes, and equitably rewarding them with impact certificates and credits. ✅ Done right, #RegenBuild could provide an alternative to existing green building certifications and serve as the foundation for the AECO industry’s transition to a regenerative paradigm over the 21st century. 📃 Read our thesis - https://lnkd.in/ggrrnBMA 🤝 Connect with us to be a part of this exciting journey as we reimagine the built environment to be more regenerative! #Sustainability #GreenBuilding #regeneration #ClimateAction #AEC #AECO

We’re investing in our planet because it’s the right thing to do. 🌎 Earth Day is a reminder of the importance of sustainability and environmental conservation. Currently, the construction industry accounts for nearly 50% of global energy consumption and more than 35% of the world’s CO2 emissions. Through our sustainability commitments we’re doing our part to change those numbers. At Flatiron we think of sustainability as the roof – and ESG as the pillars supporting that roof. We’re transforming infrastructure for a better tomorrow by: 🍃 Protecting the environment through environmentally conscious and sustainable infrastructure construction, 👷 Enhancing the well-being of our employees and the people in the communities where we live and work, and 🤝 Running the business ethically and with high integrity. Our sustainability results highlight some of the great progress that we made last year and inspire our future growth. Take a look at what we achieved in 2023! #TransformingInfrastructure #EarthDay2024 #SustainableInfrastructure #Sustainability

The City of Moorhead has once again been recognized for its outstanding sustainability efforts, maintaining its Step 5 status in the Minnesota GreenStep program. Moorhead is honored to be one of only 32 Minnesota cities that has fully advanced to GreenStep 5 status, with 149 participating cities and tribal nations in the 14 -year-old challenge, assistance, and recognition initiative. Key efforts contributing to this achievement include reducing energy usage in city-owned buildings, increasing the percentage of streetlights that are LEDs, planting more trees, and expanding renewable energy generation sites. Additionally, Moorhead residents have significantly contributed by reducing residential solid waste per person and embracing composting. “Ultimately, this exemplifies Moorhead’s commitment to a sustainable future,” shared Ethan Johnk, Assistant City Planner and GreenStep program lead with the City of Moorhead. To maintain Step 5 status, the community must improve on at least three metrics each year, with progress tracked across 17 categories. Last week my Beca colleague, Richard Forbes and I, alongside LT McGuinness Ltd.'s Sustainability Manager Ben Cannon had the privilege of sharing our experience of designing and constructing low carbon buildings in Aotearoa. Big thanks to Priority One Western Bay of Plenty for hosting and sponsoring the event. There was plenty of questions which is always a good sign of interest in this important topic 🙂. Ben, Richard and I took the audience through: - Current government requirements around carbon and how to use the NZGBC Green Star rating tool - Simple, cost-effective low carbon solutions to adopt to and when to use them through the design stages - How to measure carbon reduction throughout the building's life cycle - How to implement carbon reduction solutions during construction and further reduce impacts through waste diversion and procurement pathways. As mentioned above the goal is to share knowledge so that everyone in the building industry can get on an even playing field, so keeping in that spirit I've attached my slides below. If you do have any questions please reach out to me or my colleague Phoebe Moses. #design and #construct for #low #carbon
