We’re thrilled to announce the successful completion of our FREE 1-week exclusive STEM camp at STARBASE Florida for the children of VyStar employees!
Our young scientists, technologists, engineers, and mathematicians from grades 4-6 had an amazing time exploring STEM principles through hands-on activities. The camp was held on June 17th, 18th, 20th & 21st, 2024, at the 125th Fighter Wing, Florida Air National Guard base in Bldg. 1050.
A big thank you to all the participants for their enthusiasm and curiosity. We’re already looking forward to next year’s camp!

Meet U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Col. Scott Humr, a doctoral graduate in information sciences at NPS through the highly-competitive Marine Corps Ph.D. Program Technical (PHDP-T), who will graduate from NPS this Friday. Humr’s dissertation research focused on trust in information generated by AI-based systems as it becomes a critical factor in enabling rapid, effective decision-making on the battlefield.
“NPS has provided me with a foundation of many different skill sets to investigate different phenomenon, ranging from qualitative to quantitative methods,” said Humr, whose research will support the development of more advanced, trustworthy AI-based systems. “NPS is a great place for interdisciplinary research, and I’m truly grateful for the experiences that I’ve had here.”
As AI is more integrated into combat systems that provide key information to commanders, Humr will apply his knowledge and new technique for modeling trust in an AI that leverages quantum open system technologies, at the Marine Corps Combat Development and Integration command in Quantico, VA.
• Watch Humr and his 200 fellow graduates celebrate the completion of their NPS studies during the 2023 Summer Quarter Graduation ceremony on Friday, Sept. 22, at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern), live on the NPS Streaming Channel: https://lnkd.in/dtvssgaU.

Defining the Guardian Spirit Variable in "STEM-ish"
**NOTE: We are having fun today with a thought experiment. **
In a recent post we showed how we "embed" the Guardian Spirit variable into STEM education. The open delta-wing shape represents the Guardian Spirit for an individual. A solid delta-wing shows the Guardian Spirit for the whole organization. Today's post defines the variable for an individual's Guardian Spirit by its own equation.
We offer the opportunity for any and all Guardians to "change our mind."
The Guardian Spirit is a relationship of the knowledge of STEM (K) with the Guardian Values of #Character, #Connection, #Commitment, and #Courage which we call "C to the 4th power." This is all amplified by individual #Resilience. Multiplication amplifies the influence of all the components. For example, having a Character value of 0 turns the equation to "0". Having a 100 percent resilience from all things drives the equation to "infinity and beyond."
So, what do you think?

Sometimes, your career plans might see some curveballs. But it's what you make of them that matter most in the end.
For Capt. Dilon Duarte, learning that his eyesight prevented him from becoming a pilot did not discourage him from pursuing a career at the Space Force, where he now supports combat readiness. Turn your passion into a stellar career at www.spaceforce.com.

A day in the classroom is a day of simulating national instruments of power for the Great Power Competition.
At the forefront of military education, Air University's Air War College is pioneering new heights in strategic preparedness through an immersive wargame centered on Pacific conflict scenarios. This cutting-edge exercise is sculpting the future leaders of our force, equipping them with the acumen to navigate the complexities of great power competition.
The wargame's structure allows participants to strategize from both the U.S. and Chinese perspectives, offering a comprehensive understanding of the operational theatre. Through meticulously designed phases, the wargame transitions from strategic mobilization to intense kinetic engagements, culminating in a nuanced exploration of Freedom of Navigation Operations. It's a holistic approach where every card drawn and every move made translates into deep strategic insights, preparing our students for real-world challenges they are likely to face in future command roles.
The integration of wargaming into the Professional Military Education (PME) curriculum is revolutionizing the learning experience, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This isn't just about academic achievement; it's about fostering a robust strategic mindset, ready to contribute effectively to our national security and leadership. #GreatPowerCompetition#StrategicMindset#InnovativeLearning#PacingThreatAir Education and Training Command United States Air ForceChina Aerospace Studies InstituteAir & Space Forces MagazineAir & Space Forces Associationhttps://lnkd.in/eGrGhGWB
An amazing project with a huge benefits to everyone involved. University students and children were able to enhanced/ developed knowledge, soft, meta and interpersonal skills and global engineering competencies. Teachers were able to enhance their network, and expand their knowledge in STEM. We influenced the influencers by creating awareness of engineering and removing labels (e.g the thought that engineering is not a degree for girls). We expanded the opportunities to Additional Support Need Students and allowed them to perform at their highest.
Without doubt the involvement of amazing partners in this project brought benefits, opportunities and great success to everyone involved. Research has shown the importance of impacting children at young ages to develop their skills and knowledge in STEM education. The development of science/ engineering capital today is critical for a successful economy and society tomorrow. In an exciting STEM education initiative, Glasgow Caledonian University has partnered with the Royal Navy, Royal Society, and nine local primary schools to introduce young students to the world of electric-car engineering. 🚗
More than 700 children aged 8-12 have designed, built and now raced their very own “goblin cars” − a class of electric vehicles from the Greenpower Education Trust. Each primary school received £3,000 in Royal Society grants to cover materials and transportation costs.
The initiative culminated in two major events this week. On May 29, the primary school teams raced their goblin cars at Kames racetrack in East Ayrshire, with transportation provided by 43 Commando lorries from the local Royal Marines base HMNB Clyde. 👏

#SpeakwithImpact by Allison Shapira Chapter 5 takeaways:
Polish the speech!
It's been twenty-five years since I graduated high school A moment that seems like it was within ten years ago instead of two and half decades. One of my favorite classes was with the NJROTC program. A Jr. Navy program that taught discipline, drive, and commitment. A skill I can still use today, polishing a belt buckle and polishing my shoes.
Allison talks about polishing the speech in this chapter. If you ever had to polish a buckle or shoes to a gloss shine, you will know, it is not a simple task. It takes the right material, the right process, the time, and technique to deliver a final product.
Practice! It takes practice. The brasso is the words where the buffing is the delivery. Without the right materials, you will not have a great ending product.
Speak with intention, share the message, and leave the audience with value! Polish your technique with practice!
